Did this slip under the Radar screen?
Remember in the SOTU Bush* sort of came off the wall with the "steroids in major league baseball" comments? That was a true :wtf: moment in the speech. Commentary after the speech speculated that Dubya was "allowed" to insert at least one thing in the speech that he was actually interested in and steroids was his "cause of the day". (Sorry, Rape pits/rooms have slipped to second place, Junior is no longer interested.)

Well, now isn't it interesting that Atty General John Ashcroft himself made the announcement of the bust on two trainers in California accused of peddling steroids to major league players.

So Ashcroft is kissing the buttocks by concentrating the forces of the FBI against steroid use in major league baseball.

Did everybody else catch the connection?

1. The use of steroids in big-time major league sports is...
...so 'free market' how could this administration have anything to say about it?
Piddlin' and fiddlin' while 'Rome burns'...
Janet's boobs? Steroids in pro sports? What's next? Gay marriage? Flag burning?
I don't want to see Bush and Co beat in 2004; I want to see them humiliated. Am I bad?

and Ashcroft is playing right along with him."....Perfect summary, ewanger. And no, I hope this thread doesn't die a lonely death. I'll be there to comfort it, and give it a sip of water from my canteen.

4. Ashcroft after steriods cuz he nailed the New Orleans hookers?
OK, me bad.

But yes, I was sorta wondering about why the SOTU address should be concerned with baseball players trying to get an edge.

Just another day in the life of the attention deficeit pResident. "OK, ok. You can put in one little part of the speech yourself. Now go jog. the grown ups have your speech to write."

8. Asscroft
Asscroft is so hated by most everyone that they had to do something to get him a gold star, eh?

This is the level this administration has stooped too. The head of the Justice department so badly needs any kind of good press, that they did a setup for him in the SOTU!

Thank gawd we won't have to live with this BS much longer.

10. Don't ever forget
that Asscroft's FIRST priority after being appointed AG was to overturn Oregon's legally voted "Death With Dignity" law. Neocons rabidly support the death penalty, but just can't have terminally ill patients choose to legally end their suffering.

Repuke family values = fear, greed, self-righteousness, and HYPOCRISY.

11. Was the bust already in the works and
Bush just used the SOTU moment to get the glory? Same tactic used in "timing" Saddam's capture.
