But this is a problem in the whole country too. This is a country where the majority does not believe in the Theory of Evolution.

Here are the some of the results of a 1999 Gallup poll on creationism, evolution, and public education:

* 4% of Americans had no opinion (down from 9% in 1982)
* 47% believe that God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so
* 49% believe that human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life.

Of that latter 49%, four fifths (40% of total) believe that God guided the process, and one fifth (9% of total) believe that God had no part in the process. Thus, 87% believe that a supreme being created humans either directly or indirectly.

7. But that is a little different from saying

most people don't believe int the theory of evolution. On another thread here, a week or so ago, a poster (and i apologize, I don't remember who) said "God is why, science is how". That is pretty much how I feel. Evolution happened. There is no doubt in my mind. But it did not happen by accident. The guidance of the entity that is God does not deny the theory of evolution.

I will admit to a little surprise that it is that close...That is scary.

6. God Created Evolution

In "god" image, the human person, body and form is the living sacred temple of awareness. The thoughts that it thinks are products of the chemistry of its life, and from that sea of amoebic stupidity, arises the wise inquisitor of this "god" thing... and what is really real ALL the time... that death is absolute, and that it is unknown.

Then this inquisitor of god's image discovers the laws of survival. This same inquisitor knows that overpopulation skews animal studies and that natural selection in a time of war, is, like an oversupply of some blood cells, killing the host by defending it.

The teaching of creationism is the pinnacle of natural selection removing georgia from the healthy part of the herd. Evolution changed not a bit, rather just the words in books.
