If Bill Calhoun came forward in 2000, why didn't Bush mention this on MTP?

This is a very interesting analysis of Bill Calhoun. If he did come forward in 2000, why didn't the Bush campaign use the information then? And even if they did decide it wasn't necessary (after all the press wasn't covering the story), why didn't they bring it up weeks ago. Why didn't someone come out and say, we have Bill Calhoun as a witness to Bush's time in Alabama. Why didn't Bush say on Meet the Press, "Tim, why don't you give Bill a call. He'll vouch for my time in his office reading technical magazines."

And why did McClellan dodge the subject of Calhoun during the most recent press conference? Didn't he say that the reporters would have to call Calhoun to find out about the discrepancy between when Bush claimed to be in Alabama and when Calhoun claimed he was there. After repeated questions of why is there no one who can say they saw Bush in Alabama, didn't McClellan say earlier--We have someone! Good 'ole Bill Calhoun! Give him a call!

1. 2 possibilities: 1st (and most likely): they're flat out lying--as usual.

2nd: He's so lacking in credibility that they're only using him now out of sheer desperation.

2. Sorry, but ol'Bill seems funny to me...
as you say, he comes forward at a very opportune time...(I suspect W has already asked his advisors "Bill Who?")...all I've heard him say is that Lt. GW showed up at his office and read some flight manuels and accident reports...seems more like a single incident than anything else...for now, I may believe what Bill is saying, but I do not buy the story he is selling.

3. Even if Bill is telling the truth, which he is not
it is absurd that they can't find a number of people that remember serving with douchbag.

Think about it. You are 20 years old, serving in the guard so you most likely are into patriotism, repectful of authority, and looking for an ass to kiss to get you started on your path in life. You find yourself serving with a guy who is a Senator/Ambassador's son. Not the sort of thing that happens every day. In fact its never happened to me.

I'd remember that. I remember a number of people from 30 years ago that I met casually and none of them were American aristocracy. There's no way I'd forget meeting a Senator's son.

Now, if I had met Bush serving in Alabama, I sure as hell wouldn't come to his rescue. But that's just me.
