Email from Wes Clark Asking to Help Ben Chandler Win in Ky Next Tues
I simply had to go donate $50 -- Wes Clark can make a difference in the Democratic Party and Ben Chandler supported Wes early.

February 13, 2004

Dear Jeffrey,

Throughout this race, I've talked at length about what's at stake in this election, for our party and our country. I've talked about the need to bring a higher standard of leadership back to the White House, about the need to take back Washington from leaders who privilege special interests at the expense of our great nation, and about the need to stand up for our Democratic values of faith, family, patriotism, and inclusion. And though I am no longer running for President, I will remain a strong voice for this party -- my party -- the Democratic party.

We have an opportunity today to continue the process of bringing a higher standard of leadership to Washington by taking back the U.S. House of Representatives. If we are going to do something about the 9 million Americans who are out of work, the 35 million who live in poverty, and the 44 million who are without health care, we need to break the Republican grip on the U.S. House of Representatives. On February 17th, we can help take the first step in that direction by helping my friend Ben Chandler win the special election to represent Kentucky's 6th Congressional District. And to do this, he needs your financial support today.

Help take back the House today!

Having served as a Commander at Ft. Knox during the Vietnam War, I have a special fondness for Kentucky and a sincere desire to see candidates who stand for everyday Kentucky families elected to office. Ben Chandler embodies the qualities we most need in a Congressman. He's a fellow Southerner, a devoted family man and someone I trust. On the battlefield, I've witnessed courage and character, and as Kentucky's Attorney General, Ben showed those very traits by standing up to the most powerful members of his own party when they broke the law or fighting the special interests on behalf of all Kentuckians. And he was the first Kentucky leader to endorse our campaign for the White House.

Ben Chandler is a very good man who deserves to serve our nation in Congress. But he's facing an onslaught of money from Senator Mitch McConnell and national special interest groups who want to undermine his message of standing up for bluegrass families. That's where we can help.

Contribute now and defeat the Republican machinery.

In order to bring a higher standard of leadership to the House of Representatives, I challenge all of our supporters to visit Ben Chandler's website. Let's send a clear message that we intend to help patriots like Ben Chandler achieve victory in the first federal election of 2004.

Thank you.

Wes Clark

2. How can you not love this guy?
Seriously. How many candidates would do an Advocate cover? How many repub candidates would? Clark has more class in the tip of his....finger than most politicians have throughout their entire lives.

Note: This is the picture my wife still swoons over. LOL

6. Yep
He was the Dem candidate for KY governor in Nov that the Bush/Rove machine actively went to bury -- now he's going to take a House seat back for the democrats!

He's leading in the latest polls - Kos has been following this race as well.

9. Here is another reason to send money to Chandler

Speaker's blackmail

The Republican Party is investing vast sums of outside money to buy Kentucky votes for Alice Forgy Kerr via the ubiquitous and misleading ads that we are subjected to daily.

Now, the GOP has a new tactic. U.S. Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert implies to Kentucky farmers that only if Kerr is elected will he allow a bill favoring the allocation of tobacco settlement money to Kentucky farmers.

He may call this politics, but I call it what it is: blackmail.

I have faith that the voters of Kentucky -- farmers and non-farmers -- cannot be bought or blackmailed.

I trust they will vote for Ben Chandler, the candidate with a proven record of looking after the interests of all Kentuckians, one with too much integrity to resort to such sleazy tactics.

Lacking compassion

Dennis Hastert, speaker of the U.S. House, demonstrated his commitment to politics rather than principle, by saying that he'd help get the tobacco buyout bill out of committee and through Congress, but only if Alice Forgy Kerr were elected to fill Ernie Fletcher's seat.

Meanwhile, we've got a war against terrorism, millions of people in our bountiful country homeless and starving, a projected record $537 billion deficit, and the country is apologetic over a two-second shot of Janet Jackson's boob from 100 yards away.

Let's hear if for compassionate conservatism.

Hastert's audacity

I was admittedly apalled at the audacity of Dennis "Half-Squirt" Hastert, who recently came to Lexington to deliver an ultimatum to the voters of the 6th District about the tobacco buyout.

How dare he dangle Mitch "The Snitch" McConnell's carrot? The buyers want to buy out. The producers want to sell out. Evidently, the politicians are the holdout.

If you all don't vote Alice Forgy Kerr, Hastert said he won't allow a buyout. Get serious. That's the same old ploy: Promise the candy factory; then every election, open the windows and let them smell.

How is that for arrogance?

13. BBV.......KY
.......If I recall correctly KY along with Georgia and one other state is totally BBV......The elections Sup. for Lexington was on the Natl. Advisory Task force recommending BBV to all national election Supervisors......He is from a solid Dem. family background however politics, presumably(lol) should not enter into the BBV equation....I am hoping that now as the polling numbers tighten up someone familiar with the software side of this arguement is paying attention.....Hopefully by now the local Dem. officials are aware of the issues surrounding BBV however based on their performence record of the last few election cycles I am not optimistic that they will open their mouths about it.....best wishes
