worrying developments re: Justice Department

1) John Ashcroft uses a case where Drs. are challenging the partial birth abortion ban to supoena records from hospitals regarding women who had abortions. Supposedly, some but not all personal information would be marked out.

2)INS is going big time after long time immigrants and even U.S. CITIZENS to see them deported. In my area alone, there were two cases of women who were looking at deportation. One had a marijuana charge from years ago...has lived in this country for many years as a good citizen...but now her family is fighting her deportation because she came under scrutiny from the INS. Another one....a woman had been in prison for aggravated assault. She was born to a U.S. serviceman in Germany, but her mother never married him. But she married another soldier, he adopted her, and she grew up in the U.S. she was actually a citizen...but the INS threw her in a horrible detention center with many other women and her family barely staved off her deportation.

There are more recent developments that show the increasing brazenness of these religious fundamentalists who are wielding ever greater power to spy on us and take away our freedoms. Did you think it was possible for our country to deteriorate so quickly due to one close election? Me neither.

In case (1), you can read about it in the Latest Breakin News forum. Not exactly a big secret, it's been news for nearly a week now.

I haven't heard anything from (2), but it reads like a personal account of an event that may or may not have received media coverage thus far. Are you disputing bransonfu's reliability? If so, on what grounds?
