Gavin Newsom ROCKS
Are my eyes decieving me? Do I actually see a Democrat with CAJONES????

No pink tutu whatsoever!!!!

I'm not Gay - but I relish the gay marriages going on in SF and am proud to be from the bay area!

I may not have supported him during the election, but I WAS WRONG.

1. Now let's see him use those cojones to stand up to the developers
and other corporate interests that threaten to turn SF into, well, just another part of America. (This, plus gaffes like proposing to house* the homeless on a barge in the Bay (!), were my primary concerns.)

Once he's got that nailed down, we can run him against der Gropenfuhrer. If we assume that future CA campaigns are going to be run solely on image, well, we'll see your steroid-riddled groping Hollywood has-been Enron sock puppet, and raise you an urbane, sophisticated San Francisco restaurateur. Newsom's wife, by the way, is the stunning assistant D.A. you may remember from the dog-mauling case a while back. Even if Maria started eating right now, it's no use.

2. Gavin Nuisance wants all poor people out of San Francisco
so it can be a haven for rich yuppies. That's why SF Republicans give him all that money. Would Gavin really order the cops to round up poor people and jail them on a barge in the middle of the bay? It's a popular idea on San Francisco internet forums, certainly - he win plenty of votes if he did, along with more money from corporations and Republicans.

3. But I still appreciate what he did...arranging for gay couples..
to be able to marry. And I'm not gay either. But I really respect a mayor who stands up for the civil rights of his constituents. So rare.

4. Yes he does!

Newsome was not as liberal as his Green opponent and he's not perfect but neither is he our enemy. Turning moderate Democrats into hated opponents is really, really bad strategy. The good is not the enemy of the perfect.

on edit: sorry for editing but I was obviously unclear

8. Well this contradicts those who say Newsom's a DINO
Even though he's been shady about the homeless, he's a million times better than other Cali Dems, like DINO Feinstein. Could he run against Ahhnold in 2006?

11. Angelides for Gov
Phil Angelides has been a consistently tough Dem and would be likely to run for Gov.

Newsom has had one good month. Now, if he keeps it up for the full term....

10. We are so spoiled in the City
In San Francisco the argument isn't whether to legalize pot but whether to subsidize the munchies.
