Maybe Progressives just didn't turn out for Max Cleland...
With all due respect to the man, "I voted with President Bush 79% of the time" is not a clarion call that would energise the Democratic base to GOTV...

2. He flat-out bragged about it on his website...
That and his staunch support for the Drug War are sickening.

3. I did.
Max is a good man, imho. His IWR vote short-circuited a lot of my plans to help with the campaign, but I did vote for the guy. Chambliss is an unimaginable ass.

4. Has Chambliss ever accomplished anything?
Besides being given a name that just screams "pompous jackass"?

5. Well, I was in a similar (actually worse) situation in 1994.
I was living in TN then. Senator Bill Sasser (d) was running for reelection and was opposed by Bill Frist. This was during Gingrich's Contract On America attack. I couldn't stand Sasser, who was homophobic, even, and I am gay. But I knew that Frist would be worse, so I literally held my nose when I pulled the lever for Sasser.

So, I could do that, but some progressives couldn't bother to vote for Cleland (who is considerably more liberal than Sasser was)??? Please....
