Sometime between June and Oct. of this year.

Which will trigger a 24/7 Pravda of revisionist lies that makes Stalin's funeral look like 5 pallbearers and a megaphone.

39. Will they hold off announcing it until October?
I have never known anyone with Alzimers to survive as long as he has -- and at his age!!!

Reagan was the first to break the 20 year jinx. Or did he? Remember the movie "Dave"?

I think they will hold a funeral for Ronald Reagan in October regardless of whether he is dead or alive or has been dead for 20 years.

I think they are still divided on this. Some wax nostalgic for those poll numbers in the 90s, others wonder if it could make the regime appear that it wasn't doing a good job on Homeland Security, but then there we are back to the Great Leap Forward in Homeland Security made possible for Marvin Bush's bank account.

10. How about all of the above?
They find Osama sitting in a previously unnoticed huge bioweapons lab in downtown Bagdad getting ready to launch a ICBM loaded with 400 tons of nuclear anthrax. Sitting next to him will be the body of St. Ronnie the Blessed (who Osama stabbed with a spoon, so it would hurt more) and some woman who claims she is a former John Kerry intern.

Heck, just finding Saddam didn't seem to do much for shrub's approval rating- they might as well just go for broke.

19. im thinking
a large scale terrorist attack will be stopped by the heroic george w bush. The attack will probably contain some sort of assasination attempt on GWB. Kind of like all the talk of Saddam wanting Clinton to win against GHWB, it will be a way to try and show the terrorists don't want our fearless leader in power.

The looney right wing radio hosts are already starting to ask, who would the terrorists rather have in office Bush or Kerry.

(which, Ann Coulter's lunacies notwithstanding, I am not), I'd rather have a chickenhawk who bailed on his Champagne Unit TANG commitment than a decorated veteran who charged straight off his boat into withering enemy fire to take out an enemy firing position. Kerry's no one to screw around with. * is an indecisive pissant.

It's nice to play dress-up and pretend to be a toy soldier, but there's a big difference between a toy soldier and a real combat veteran. I'm married to a combat veteran, myself, and I know he'd much rather have Kerry leading us in a crisis than Chimpy McCokespoon.

Letters to the editor and as much of a public stink as possible. The point to hammer on is that people seem to know where OBL is and are planning to get him. This raises the question of whythehell we didn't do this two years ago instead of blasting the bejeezus out of two countries.

41. Is that a December Surprise?
If the BFEE doesn't win the election, they mess up the world so badly that the Dem following will have to do unpopular things.

That is sort of what happened here in VA. Our governor is doing a brilliant job of getting along with the republicans and getting the business of the Commonwealth taken care of. He has had to close state services and reduce spending in a lot of other areas, so he isn't doing the popular thing, but he is doing the right thing.

The people of this fine country are finally waking up. It's gonna take something bigger than a PNAC "another Pearl Harbor" to dissuade the people of this country from voting ABB. I do business with people from all over the country every day and I've traveled almost the entire US in the past year. There is not one place in this country where people aren't upset with this administration. Don't believe the hype.

I listen to C-SPAN radio everyday and I pay close attention to the Bush supporters. Almost EVERY single one of them starts off the conversation with whatever the rightwing talking points of the day are. Some recent examples are "Boosh- (Texan pronunciation not mine) bashing Democrats" and "Boosh is a man of morals". I find it hard to believe that the average Joe is calling in to support Boosh and his morality. I believe this is orchestrated by someone higher up.

sometime in October. Only months afterwards will it come out that it was staged. Chimpy will make the masses afraid again and he'll ride to the rescue.

I used to think that Ronnie would have to die at an opportune time. But the more I think about it, I don't believe it to be. The Reagan's do not care for the Bush's at all, and certainly Nancy or Ron Jr. wouldn't let any of Rove's people or anyone not in the close circle of family near the Gipper. I'm sure they've screened his caretakers well.

really good poll, I prefer Bin Laden.
But after reading this:
Conservative television news anchor Bill
O'Reilly said on Tuesday he was now skeptical about the Bush
administration and apologized to viewers for supporting prewar claims
that Iraq (news - web sites) had weapons of mass destruction.

The anchor of his own show on Fox News said he was sorry he gave the
U.S. government the benefit of the doubt that former Iraqi leader
Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s weapons program poised an
imminent threat, the main reason cited for going to war.

Perhaps, *they* got another horse in the barn?

51. I don't wanna hear about this now.
I deplore every dirty trick the GOP uses, but I'm sick of the term "October Surprise"

When I hear libs blaming Reagan's tricks for Carter's loss, it pisses me off to no end, because even though he was a fine man, and on the right side of most issues, Carter was a very ineffective president. His failure to act after those helicopters crashed in Iran doomed his campaign more than anything Ronnie might have done. When we can prove crimes by the GOP, whe should expose them, but blaming every failure on their tricks, instead of going the extra mile by making sure that WE are the best, is counterproductive.

I hope this doesn't sound freepish, because it's from the heart.

53. Gen. Tommy Franks' scenario for military law is 2nd attack on US
A vet friend sent this to me a couple of months ago -- it's really chilling. My cynical side says the Bush regime has OBL stashed in a cave somewhere, waiting until October to pop out like a surprise lady from a birthday cake. But there's always the grimmer possibility of another 9-11, LIHOP or MIHOP, and it's interesting (in a really creepy way) that Tommy Franks has already worked out in his mind that the citizenry would be only too happy to run to a secure sheephold under the staff of a strong shepherd. He doesn't sound terribly happy about it, only terribly pragmatic -- and from a DU point of view, his scenario would serve the purposes of the Neocons.

> Gen. Franks Doubts Constitution Will Survive WMD Attack
John O. Edwards, NewsMax.com
Friday, Nov. 21, 2003

> Gen. Tommy Franks says that if the United States is hit with
a weapon of mass destruction that inflicts large casualties,
the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a
military form of government.

> Franks, who successfully led the U.S. military operation to
liberate Iraq, expressed his worries in an extensive interview
...In December edition,... warned that
if terrorists succeeded in using a weapon of mass destruction
(WMD) against the U.S. or one of our allies, it would likely
have catastrophic consequences for our cherished republican
form of government.

> Discussing the hypothetical dangers posed to the U.S. in the
wake of Sept. 11, Franks said that "the worst thing that could
happen" is if terrorists acquire and then use a biological,
chemical or nuclear weapon that inflicts heavy casualties.
"... The Western world, the free world, loses what it cherishes
most, and that is freedom and liberty we’ve seen for a couple
of hundred years in this grand experiment that we call
democracy."

> Franks then offered "in a practical sense" what he thinks
would
happen in the aftermath of such an attack."It means the
potential of a weapon of mass destruction and a terrorist,
massive, casualty-producing event somewhere in the Western
world – it may be in the US – that causes our population to
question our own Constitution and to begin to militarize our
country in order to avoid a repeat of another mass,
casualty-producing event. Which in fact, then begins to unravel
the fabric of our Constitution. Two steps, very, very
important."

> Already, critics of the U.S. Patriot Act, rushed through
Congress in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, have argued that
the law aims to curtail civil liberties and sets a dangerous
precedent.

> But Franks’ scenario goes much further. He is the first
high-ranking official to openly speculate that the Constitution
could be scrapped in favor of a military form of government.
