2. I think it's both right and wrong
Bush did apply for some program and was told he didn't qualify. But he also checked a box on another form that said no overseas duty.

Marty Heldt's site or awolbush.com probably has the documents.

3. Here is an article that backs up that claim.

6. that's a Dallas Morning News story...
..posted without a link on freerepublic.com. Here are the pertinent paragraphs.

Mr. Bush's application for the Guard included a box to be checked specifying whether he did or did not volunteer for overseas duty. His includes a check mark in the box not wanting to volunteer for such an assignment.

But several personnel officers said that part of the application for domestic Guard units routinely would be filled out that way by a clerk typist, then given to the applicant to sign.

Mr. Bush has said that he signed up for but lacked the number of flying hours to participate in a program called the Palace Alert, which eventually rotated nine pilots from his unit into duty in Southeast Asia from 1969 to 1970.

His signup and willingness to participate was confirmed by several of his colleagues and superiors, who remembered the effort as brash but admirable.

10. This has both answers blurred out.
If you notice there are big black dots on both sides of that "area assignment preferences". Unless you had the original copy it would be hard to say exactly what the answer was that Bush chose.

13. Great!
But I know there is one out there (and I will search my hard drives for it) where it's NOT blacked out, you can clearly see his preferences..

I'm gonna find that puppy and show it to the world..

anyone get the feeling that Bush is sitting at the oval office desk with a sharpie? :)

thanks all!

14. You're right, I saw the unredacted one earlier and was searching for it.
Just couldn't find it, only this coverup. Also, some of the links to pic names were dead (names like VolunteerReserve.jpeg, etc.).

Made me actually think for a sec about a bushrecord suppression program that would roam about eating pics of his records.

Nah. Computers and the net can be wierd enough without that.

What I want to know is where are the 300-400 pages posted? Surely somebody who has them has done that? Or will SOON? I need to see the whole thing to know what's missing.

12. I have a pdf doc which shows the following...
The boxes for "I do" and "I do not volunteer for overseas" are both blacked out. However, the line for numbering the overseas areas in order of preference is not blacked out, proving that he didn't number any of them. And the line for numbering preferences inside the United States IS blacked out, proving that he did number those boxes in the order of his preference.
