Mayor: Don't ban gay marriage

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper used some of his political clout on Thursday to denounce efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution to prohibit same-sex marriages.

The mayor, who has picked several gay and lesbian leaders to serve in his new administration, said he plans to speak against the amendment at a rally on Valentine's Day.

"I don't think that it's government's role to dictate to religious institutions what they should or should not allow," Hickenlooper said.

Back in the 60's a fellow named Hal Fryar hosted a kid's show on Channel 6 and went by the name "Harlow Hickenlooper". Had the singer Curley Myers for a sidekick.

was in the Senate from Iowa,anyone remember him? I believe his name was Bert Hickenlooper.
