There were points where I was moved to tears listening to the convention..
The representative from Cambridge was talking about her experience in Nazi-occupied Austria, how she couldn't go to the playground with her parents as a little girl because their Stars of David would have them privy to violence or worse, how she was forced to leave her family for a period of many months to live in a safer place until they could go to America, how this relates to the what the legislature is trying to do to gays today...

Then the representative from another, fairly conservative town came on and talked about the prejudice she had to over come in marrying a much older man, how her now-deceased husband, who worked for the New England Patriots and was a former legislature, touched the lives of thoses who needed it, how she regularly has to explain to her socially conservative constituents why she has to vote the way she does and can't vote against same-sex marriage and gay rights just to appease them. (She's been re-elected 4 times though, so they must be coming around...)
