The question is....Do You Believe Same-Sex Marriage Should Be Banned?

3. I got it, when did all these assholes crawl out of their holes?
My heart goes out to all gay people, we all deserve to live in a better, more accepting world.

4. You are assuming everyone at DU agrees with you
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 01:05 AM by Woodstock
I suspect a lot of people aren't speaking up because they don't want to get into a knock down dragout, but they don't agree with you. It wouldn't be wise to assume silence = consent. The numbers just don't support it.

My impression is that most Democrats are pro-civil unions but not pro-gay marriage.

6. That is truly sad if that is the case.
The more I think about it, the more I assume that America is just too right-wing and puritan for my life. Even some who claim to be liberal are really a subtle version of Republicans.

7. Well good!
I hope you realize that a lot of queers are sick to death of the separate but equal approach we have been receiving. And that a lot of queers are also fed up with the dems holding us hostage, taking our votes, and giving us crap in return.

8. I sympathize.
I am not gay but I truly feel for you all. You deserve the same rights and freedoms as other people in relationships receive. That includes the right to marry.

9. It is all semantics, marriage/civial unions to me it is the same thing
Gay couples being respected by and treated equally under the law is a matter of civil rights.

Two people that love each other and want to spend their lives together, bound by legal and monetary responsibilities: marriage, partnership, lovers, civil unions, whatever you call it, it is the same. Why all the dicey wordplay?

11. It's the same to you...
Because it doesn't affect you. Separate schools was "the same thing" to a lot of whites too. Why all that dicey wordplay?

10. How sad...
It's like being pro-segregation but anti-Jim Crow.
