Talk Radio in South Florida is Liberal

I just realized that. Randi Rhodes and Neil Rodgers own the fucking airwaves, and they both hate the GOP.

The thing is--they're both pretty cool to listen to. Randi seems like a cool spunky lady, and Neil is a hilarious VERY unPC bastard.

There's no reason at all lib radio can't work, but I'm so afraid they'll fuck it up with those who are better in print than on radio (who'd you rather LISTEN to on the way home: Al Franken or Al Sharpton?)

I'm sure they'll get it backwards.

Instead of: How can we make a cool interesting show--then how can we make that show liberal?

We'll have: What liberals can we put in front of a mike. Quick! Let's scour past editions of Dissent, and let's poll the Brookings Institute.

On Edit: No, it ain't cuz there's a lot of Jews in South Florida. DemoRadio is just hip, cool, and funny. It's grew up by accident more than anything else; there NO REASON why this couldn't exist anywhere. You've just got to have folks who get their heads out of the clouds, and who realize their job is to entertain, not chop logic. It can be done!

She's tough and smart. She had Ollie North on once and she got to him so back he walked out of the studio. She should be syndicated. Her ratings would soar past Rush.

I disagree that S Florida talk radio is lib. There is Randi and Neil (more sports than politics) but besides that, there's Rush, Laura the Unloved, Glenn Beck, Todd Schnitt (worst radio show ever) Drudge, Phil Hendrie (who has lurched to the right since 9-11 - loves Bush, that idiot Roy Masters and Coast to Coast with Noory or whoever (every conspiracy theory BUT the ones involving the Bush family/MIC types - all UFO's and ghosts - good entertainment, and reinforces the notion in folks' minds that ALL conspiracy theories are bunk)

I agree that lib talk radio can get great ratings, But big corporate advertisers will subsidize right-wing shows even if their ratings are dismal. Rush's ratings are terrible in a lot of markets, but the national advertisers don't care. They, and ClearChannel, want to control THE MESSAGE.

I guess compared to most of the heartland, S FL is lib - 2 is a lot more than NONE!

And the other network central air or whatever it's called is being put together by one of the originators and writers for the daily show. It'll be good, don't worry.

Also, Mike Malloy says that he'll end up somewhere too.

Don't forget about Guy James and Sasha. Both out of maybe the most RW area in this country, Fort Myers. The only problem is, between them they are only on for 4 hours a week. Otherwise, it's all RW.

According to Randi, she has a little trouble attracting national sponsors, since she frequently bashes corporate influence in government. Any major media conglomerate would prefer that she keep her mouth shut.

I love Randi. Since I don't live in Florida, I download her show from the above site, and listen the next day.
