there. How the Occupation and Rebuilding are faring in all the areas.
If you are watching do you find it depressing? I had to take a break. I felt the Military Officers they are interviewing are sincere in their efforts to help the people of Iraq, but I can't get over a feeling of wanting to say: "WHY ARE WE THERE?" And, that some programs set up to instill democracy by the Miltary have code names like "Marcus Welby" and other old, long gone, TV shows? (Give me a break!)
An interview with an Iraqi businessman whose spending $40,000 to build an "Internet Cafe with a dry cleaning establishment included, says the American Soldiers will use it. He was asked if the establishment would be totally dependent on the US Military and he said "Yes, the soldiers...without them we will have Civil War in this Country....I do not want them to leave!" So, this guy has $40,000 to spend on an Internet Cafe dependent on our Military? Where did he get the money and isn't this making him dependent on us? Plus that he said without us the place will have a civil war?
Then they went to Kirkuk and discussed the Kurds and how they think we will give them their lands back. A Military Officer tried to explain that this wouldn't be the case, but that was still the feeling.
I had to give the show up. It just is too depressing and I really was looking for something good that were are doing there out of this show.
Maybe somewhere there is good....maybe I should have stuck with it.
