I R Convinced.... We won in Georgia in 2002
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 07:13 PM by Dob Bole
There's a new commondreams article on the 2002 elections in Georgia. As you might know, Max Cleland lost to Republican Saxby Chambliss, and Georgia elected its first Republican governor in 130 years.

No we didn't.

All of the demographic trends in Georgia have continued to favor Democrats. Something is screwy with the Diebold machines, and the only Republican serving in my state should be Zell Miller.

1. Is anyone in ANY official capacity at all concerned about this?
Everytime I read about voting machine tampering in my small southern newspaper, it's made to look like "conspiracy theory".

2. Don't know...
I'm a skeptic myself. But there is pretty substantial evidence that there is no way the Republicans could have won, so the voting machines are simply the first place to look for the errors.

Personally, I believe that the results were manipulated but no, its not final, as you state.

meant I'm finally convinced. The title is kind of misleading, now that I look at it.

This time, we sue when the machines cough up convenient Republican votes.

Challenge, challenge, challenge.

No more Mr. Nice Democrat.

5. Anyone listening..........
Just ignore, ignore........... Must be that crazy liberal media again, up to no good. Actually the number of registered democrats in many areas of the south outnumber the number of repubs. These people generally vote Republican anyway. (They are known as Raygun Democrats, socially conservatives who, for the most part, have nothing else in common with Repukes)

I read the story but only saw an opinion and no facts. We need to do better than this to prove anything.

10. Welcome to DU
Here's some help sorting it out.
http://www.failureisimpossible.com/agenda/votingmachines.htm

You will find an exceptional listing, pick one that applies to your state.

There are many legislators working to change the voting. You'll find links there.

M.E. Cowen has worked hard putting this sight together since 2000.

11. I live in Georgia too.
I agree, something went very wrong in that last election. Someone has done a very good job a making sure there is no way to trace anything back. We have contacted Kathy Cox, head of the Ga. Dept of State. She has no interest in even listening to any complaints about voting machines.

We have tried to petition her to get paper trails for the 2004 election, but forget it!

I've very worried about so many more states using these machines this year.

Don't you see it is just so much easier to have an election with only NINE people instead of that messy way that lets all sorts of women and minorities and god only knows what cast a vote?

It's called an increase in PRODUCTIVITY. As voters, we have been LAID OFF.

Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 10:27 PM by cosmicdot
imho ... the votes should have been counted ... Gore electors considered the winner ... the GOP legislature in Tallahassee would have sent their own slate of electors to Washington on Jan. 6, 2001, to challenge the Florida elected electors; and, things would have gone from there ... probably ending up in the House of Representatives ...

we have all the time in the world to do the process correctly vs. risk violating the Constitution through partisanship/judicial precedents

24. It's Diebold...you ought to at least get the name of the company
who is screwing our democracy correct.

While we are protecting your right to make your vote count, you are obviously not smart enough to know that your side is "winning" while the country loses. When you finally wake up, it will be way too late to fix the problem.

500,000 more people wanted Gore. If we had gotten our way, we'd have $500BB more money in the US Treasury, 9/11 would not have happened, and we wouldn't have lost 500 American soldiers dying because of Mr. Bush's lies. We wouldn't be making government war contracts a growth industry for Republican contributors and we'd be dealing with the terrorists by making them the international criminals that they are.

I don't mind that you are clueless about the assault on Democracy, but I am curious as to why you hate America so much?

40. If I can deviate from the subject at hand for a moment -
Can I make a couple of observations, and ask you a question (besides this one, of course)?

First, your "head" honcho on the "air" - "rush" (lol!) turns out to be a pill-popping hypocrite.

Second, your messaiah - g.w. "flightsuit" moron, turns out to be awol, and a liar.

Question - why did we have to invade Iraq?

Tell me too, if you will, anticipating your red/white/and bullshit answer - how are we "more free" now that we've slaughtered a few tens of thousands of Iraqis, and 550 Americans, not to mention the maimed. How are we more free? And where, oh where are the WMDs the moron killed these people to protect us from ?

I don't expect an answer. If anything, I expect some drivel about Clinton. You got nothin', bushbot, nothin'.
