Cocaine bust and George Bush's military absense
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 06:20 PM by Womblestuffer
When I served in the military if a serviceman was arrested for a drug offense off base the Base Commander was notified and a formal hearing was held, now the rumours about shrubs bust say that he was arrested on or about 1972/73 and this corresponds with his absense, this lends credence to the scrubbing of files and his early discharge..AND the unwillingness of the White House to release his files. If all they will give us are his dental records then i submit that more damaging information exists. If shrub was not convicted of drug possesion in a civilian court then the military might not court martial him but just put a reprimand in his file.

2. Maybe he got busted in May of '72 and, to stay out of jail, he ...
...agreed to do time at a rich kids' rehab unit in North Carolina(http://atrios.blogspot.com/2004_02_01_atrios_archive.html#107584174171877646) and, after his release, to perform community service at Project PULL in Houston from January of '73 through the following summer (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/campaigns/wh2000/stories/bush072899.htm). When he was cashiered from the Guard, in the fall of '73, his military superiors were probably happy to let him go.

If it's true, just think of the irony: he goes in the Guard to avoid Vietnam and ends up in rehab to avoid prison.
