Email to american airliines
My email to american airlines after the cockpit preaching

Sirs: my family and I travel frequently, often with American. I am not a Christian and I truly resent the fact that one of your pilots should have the arrogance to classify me as crazy since I dont have the same beliefs as he does.
I will no longer travel with your airline unless i hear that the pilot has been fired or hear a public apology from you.

Their answer? Thank you for your comment. We hope you will continue to fly with American.

Dont these people get it?

1. no, they dont get it
you have to have an open mind to get it

once you have closed it with religion, you cant get it

religion used to be just annoying, now it has become dangerous again

we are about to see a christian revolution in this country in which all devency and education is replaced with intolerance and lies

such a sad state of affairs this

2. yeah, all Christians are assholes
:eyes:

You know, it's not really as black-and-white as you make it out to be. Atheists on DU strike me as every bit as intolerant as fundamental Christians. I know that you're not all that way--my husband is an Atheist; obviously, I tolerate him and he, me.

We really don't all suck; there are a vocal minority who make us look bad. Just as there are a vocal minority of Atheists who make the rest seem bad. Do you really want to be in that group?

3. you misinterpreted me
I dont object to other peoples beliefs as long as they dont attempt to thrust them at me without my consent or asking for it. It is especially insulting to me when they come to my door to tell me in essence that I am wrong and they are right.
Nobody knows who is right or wrong till death.
I live in a very conservative area with many fundamentalist and as long as we dont raise the subject of religion we all get on very well.
If you were offended I apologise since i didnt meant to do that.

4. Why do companies insult us like that.
I wrote a very long, very angry letter to a company I felt had screwed me over on an order I placed.
After including dates, times, names, etc. the only reply I got was; "We are sorry for any inconvenience and we will send you a return label."
I realize my issue is nothing like yours, but it seems like they don't even listen to what we are saying, or writing. We just don't matter.

5. don't stop flying American!

I haven't had a chance to write my story down, but they treated me VERY well recently, and 2 years ago when I had to fly to MI for family medical emergencies.

the VERY short of it - my flight attendant this last time DROVE me 3.5 hours from O-Hare to Kalamazoo MI because my flight got cancelled and I wouldn't be able to leave until noonish the next day. She dropped me off and drove all the way back.

There's much, much more to the story, but that one is the icing on the cake.

I plan on posting my story here eventually - it will be called "Why You Should Fly American Airlines" - it's funny that this funky pilot story has happened, because you guys REALLY need to hear my story.

I'll try to get it all on paper this weekend.

6. As I expected, they will do nothing about the issue.
Unless, we the consumers, make them feel the pressure.
They are just hoping it will blow over -and in the process- they are are sending a horrible message of religious intolerance to the entire world.
Yes, folks, they suck. Ameericans need to demand more responsibility from their politicians and corporations.

8. They're getting lots of letters from the religious right to 'stand firm
in the faith' judging by righ-wing talk shows in Tulsa OK.

7. the actions of one AA pilot
Please keep in mind there are thousands of AA employees.

AA is headquatered in Dallas , yet was one of the first Fortune 500 companies to offer domestic partner benefits.

AA is fairly progressive as far as corporations go.
