Senator Biden Opens a Can of Whup-a$%!!!
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 01:36 PM by BeHereNow
Anybody catch Biden just now?
He ROCKED!
No beating around the bush (no pun intended)
with this guy!
Referred to the people hiding behind the curtain
as exercising "ideological idiocy" in foreign policy
and said that some of the questions our President asked him,
"startled him." Inferring of course that the adminstration
only gave the president cherry picked information.

Near the end he pointed out that at one time in history,
world leaders would not need to see proof; that our
President's (Kennedy's) word was enough. He said that
given the situation and revelations around the White House
today, that not ONE world leader would believe anything
we said.

He also drove home the point that the commission
appointed to investigate the intelligence around Iraq
should most importantly investigate the USE of that
intelligence.

If he was running for President, I would vote for him
in a heart beat after what I heard from his lips today!

BHN
I called his office to thank him-
so should you! He ACTUALLY represented
the American people today.

On Edit: Typos cause I am so riled up about what I
just saw this man do! I tell ya, he ROCKED!

4. While I appreciate what he did, I have a hard time with people who
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 01:45 PM by lovedems
are bashing the administration now that it is a politically correct thing to do. I have alot more respect for those who were criticizing them when it wasn't ok and they were considered unpatriotic and ridiculed.

I am glad that it is being done though. Better late than never.

Edit: It should be abundantly clear that this administration doesn't care about our image or the future. I think they came in to do as much damage as possible in 4 years, just in case they don't get 4 more. If they get 4 more, we ain't seen nothin' yet. I have family members who in 2000 said "I bet bu$h plans on being a one termer. He is going to screw this country in 4 years and then go home".

15. Like Byrd and Kennedy
They have been the most eloquent opponents of this administration and they've been at it since the beginning. Kudos to Biden for taking it to them now though but these two guys deserve extra special props.

6. He never left the fight...
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 02:06 PM by LeahMira
Back when he came to the University of Delaware to speak to our students right after 9/11 he spoke of the dangerous weapons that were kept in the flimsiest of structures here and there in Russia. He talked about how the Russians had asked, even begged the U.S. to assist them in dismantling these weapons, and how this administration had refused to help because "some of those guys were still commies."

He also encouraged our students to study Arabic and to consider public service, claiming that currently the U.S. has to rely on other nations because we have only a very few in intelligence who can speak fluent Arabic and are able to possibly infiltrate terrorist groups.

At the time he spoke, he assured students that these terrorist groups consisted of only a handfull of people who could easily be dealt with, and that students didn't need to worry about possibly having to go to war. On that he was mistaken. I really don't think he had any idea of the treachery of which this administration is capable... treachery that has resulted in a war that was never necessary and in the recruitment of thousands of volunteers into the terrorist groups as a result. But folks, he knows now.

I'm glad you liked what Senator Biden had to say today. He's certainly not infallilble, but we in Delaware think we're pretty lucky to have him representing us and we're extremely proud of him.

18. VERY lucky
we got Zell Miller (turncoat of the year award)

i just got off the phone with his office, asking what miller plans to do now that bush has been caught lying

her: 'senator miller supports the president'

me: 'so he supports lying?'

her: 'senator miller supports the president'

me: 'i want to get this straight now, senator miller supports the lies of this administration, is this correct?'

her: 'senator miller supports the president'

she clearly sounded exasperated and suggested i was part of MoveOn.org

at least we see that he has hired bimbos to stay in character

can't we throw ppl out of the democrat party when they prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they are ideologically a republican?

17. Hey, LeahMira....
I went to University of Delaware (a while ago, I graduated in 1989). I lived in Delaware after graduation until 2000, when I moved just over the line into PA.

I was in Pike Creek before the 2002 election, and Joe was campaigning at the Acme. He actually loaded my groceries into my car for me!

You're right, people in Delaware love Joe.

2. i saw that
Biden was so solid. I've seen some DU'ers say that Biden was throwing Powell a bone. We must have been watching different grillings. Biden made sure not to blame Powell, in fact he went out of his way numerous times to do so. He also went out of his way not to blame the INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY. It is clear Biden is not bitin' on any of the sacrifices (Powell and the Intelligence community) being offered up at the altar by Bush.

5. He was very DIPLOMATIC!
I think that the way he addressed Powell
was brilliant. He called on Powell to rise to
his higher nature, reminding him that he was once
throught to be trustworthy by Foreign diplomats and leaders.
He carefully pointed out that it was the opinion of many
that Powell had been compromised by certain parties.
He kept the focus of blame on the knuckleheads like
Bolton, Feith, Cheney etc...
I like how he pounded the point that the real investigation
should be on the MIS-use of intelligence...
as in, WHO is responsible for twisting the intelligence.
Do I smell a Rovian rat?

11. I concur with you assessment
Biden did cut Powell to the quick. I thought Colin Powell was about to cry toward the end.

Biden beat Powell like a bad dog and made bad dog to love master at the same time.

13. Great analogy...
"Biden beat Powell like a bad dog and
made bad dog to love master at the same time..."

I thought it was very moving, that moment.
Reminding Powell of how he USED to be regarded
by others in international affairs.
I actually felt sorry for him, and it made me
consider what it must be like to be him.
Stuck between a rock and the Neo-cons,
knowing how badly his reputation has been
damaged by their delusional "ideological idiocy"

LOVED that description of the BAD dog owners.
Powell is not a stupid man. He knows fully well
that he has been compromised, and I think it
must impact him deeply.
I think over all, he is a person who has prided
himself on personal integrity and character.
To have spent so many years of his life building
his reputation, only to have is decimated in a
few short years by men who have NO character
or ethics. Only a mad drive to control the world.

3. we need cherry picking 'toons and use of the term splattered all over!
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 01:44 PM by jean
It's just a matter of time before this cherry picking concept takes hold in the public (fairly unconcscious) consciousness!

Please, let's see some political cartoons with cherry trees now!!!

How about comparing chopping down the cherry tree with cherry picking by Bush/Cheney!

The sooner we take the frame of reference OFF the intelligence community ("intelligence failure") the better we can focus the fault where it belongs - on Bush/Cheney.

It's not as important to nail the underlings because it'll be Bush/Cheney on the ballots in November.

I think we (DUers) need to flood the phones in offices
of the Representatives and Congressmen who are actually
serving "WE, the people!"
God knows there are plenty who simply do their
corporate masters bidding and don't give a damn
about the fact that they took an oath to protect the
Constitution.
We need to let the REAL patriots in our government
know that we are paying attention, and that we appreciate
their courage to stand up to the Cabal.
Go TEAM!
