Boy, there sure is a lot of news all of a sudden!
All coincidentally within a day or two when the heat is really being turned up on the Bush administration (AWOL, MTP, STILL no WMDs, etc., etc.).

First, W gives a speech about fighting proliferation of WMDs on the black market. Now THAT doesn't sound like he's covering his ass on letting Pakistan get away with selling nuclear secrets to 2/3 of the Axis of Evil and Libya! I predict with 1000% assurance that throughout the campaign, when critics bring up the Pakistan incident, Bush will refer to his "plan" to stop black market nuclear proliferation ("See, I'm dealing with the problem! Next question.").

Then, the WH leaks that Bush is for an amendment to ban gay marriage, just as the issue is coming to a head in Massachusetts.

Those two issues each by themselves knocked the AWOL story to second tier, and the WMD story off the radar for the time being. Both were also manufactured by the White House.

The top U.S. General in Iraq comes under attack (no one injured).
Terror fears ground flights.
The House holds hearings on the imminent danger we all face from Janet's breast.

All these "stories" could also possibly be "generated" to swamp the airwaves with something other than Bush criticism.

But it won't work. The people are sick of the lies and obfuscation... not just on the AWOL issue (relatively minor), but on the war and every step the administration takes.

These stories have legs, and the press smells blood.

2. Right On, Brotherjohn!
There most certainly is a change in the media mood this year. It's just like their collective plastered-on smiley faces just cracked under the strain of three years' worth of shit-eating grins.

Stuff that only alternative press would touch mere months ago is coming out in the mainstream. But how far will they go with it? Will it really get popular opinion to come around?

5. Not suprising
I think that some of the media may be waking up to the fact that they are loosing their base. With the internet; why read just US papers when you can read the guardian; The Times(of London); Al Jazeera; and a lot of others.

I havn't read a real newspaper in months...

3. Oh shit
I just saw on another thread that there's a Drudge report story about John Kerry having an affair. You can bet THAT one's gonna have legs. If it's true, the ONLY way to beat Bush will be to absolutely pound him on his AWOL and drug past.
