Groups say they will fight mayor's move to OK gay marriages

SAN JOSE, Calif. - (KRT) - Conservatives threatened Wednesday to seek a court injunction blocking San Francisco from becoming the first city in the country to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, raising questions about the viability of the city's novel go-it-alone approach.

"We have attorneys in California ready to act if the city issues a single marriage license," said Vincent McCarthy, an attorney with the Washington-based Marriage Law Project. "I can't think of a judge in the country who wouldn't issue an injunction within 24 hours."

...I thought to myself, "The San Francisco conservatives are going to do this???", and then I looked at where the suit is coming out of.
