Curious...Why arn't we seeing the repug congressman and.....
senators out actively defending junior on all the news and radio shows?
Isn't that the usual way they do things?
Is it because they don't want to get anywhere near this? Of course it is. They know all about schrub and don't want to get caught in the mess he created.

1. Because they are starting to hate Bush too.

<snip>
House lawmakers, stunned by the intensity of their constituents' displeasure at some of Mr. Bush's key domestic policies, gave his political strategist Karl Rove an earful behind closed doors.
"It was intense, but I was not surprised at the tone of questioning during Rove's session," said Rep. Tom Feeney, Florida Republican. "But then this was supposed to be a no-holds-barred discussion, and our constituents are upset."

The tide is turning my friends...

2. Feeney is the slimeball that tried to steal my vote
as the speaker of the FL house during the 2000 selection. If he is bailing on the shrub, then I foresee a democratic victory next fall.

4. I'm skeptical
I really want to believe that good, thoughtful, patriotic and actual conservatives
will finally stand up and say "my Country comes first, NOT my party" and
disavow Bushes lies and coverups with at least the SAME vigor they did
for Clinton's because they believe that the good of the nation comes FIRST.

Not bloody likely, says I.

It IS possible to say: "yo, I'm a Conservative, but I don't LIKE preemptive
wars or spreading our troops too thin, I don't LIKE massive handouts
to campaign contributors (even if they are MY friends, too), I don't LIKE
ruining the environment (even if I make a profit!), I don't LIKE injecting
fundie christian religion into government (and I AM a fundie christian!),
I don't LIKE discrimination, I don't LIKE passing off the debt to my
grandchildren and I DON'T think Bush is a god-like creature who's
led the GOP out of the wilderness. He's a spoiled, incurious guy. I
live in the greatest country the world has ever known; I think we deserve
a wise, knowledgeable, fair, Uniter NOT Divider. If our ideas are good
and true, we WILL win in the end, it's dishonorable to cheat and steal
to win!"

"Naaaaah, the end justifies the means. F*ck you, I've got mine and I want more!"

3. They know all about him and the mess he created as they voted in lockstep,
at least virtual lockstep, for every law, for every appointment put before them. They are, IMHO, even worse, for they knew and did it anyway: they abrogated their sacred duty to maintain a separation of powers and they also relegated some of their constitutional authority to one man.
