Gutter Politics?...don't make me laugh
Cause it hurts my face to smile so much. The hilarity of Colin Fowl
trying to make the case, yet again, that the Iraq invasion and war was justified, despite lack of wmd's. A democratic senator was asking him a question, and in doing so, mentioned the fact that the administration was full of chickenhawks who all found something more important to do than fight in Viet Nam, like Dick Cheney, Newt, Pat Buchanan, etc. Then the senator mentioned the president's own shady history in the Texas Air National Guard. Colin went postal, in his own calm way.

First, he told the senator that he didn't know what he was talking about. When asked to clarify, Colin got an evil look on his mug, and said, "don't go there". In other words, don't even bring up a subject that I don't want to address. Don't' even go there.

This more or less proves to me, once and for all, that aWol was definitely AWOL. Colin lost any credibility he may have had years ago, as a shill for his masters at bushco. But when he blanched indignation at the AWOL query, his image as a military hero was forever tarnished.

And the pitiful machinations and mendacities of White House spokesman Scott McLieland were hilarious. Holding up a supposedly official, xeroxed document, and declaring, this is all water under the bridge, the story is over, there's no point in dragging it on any further, case closed. What malarkey.

After what they did to Bill Clinton, they have the nerve to call this gutter politics, and "trolling for trash". Gimmee a break.
What whiners!

1. Haven't you heard?
- They're Masters of the Universe. They can do whatever they want without consequence and owe an explanation to no one.

2. I remember gutter politics....
... it started with the investigation of a piddly land deal in Arkansas, a deal so picayune that thousands like it were routinely overlooked during the S&L crisis of the late 80s.

It continued with investigations into a private life, accusations of various wrongdoings including TravelGate, FileGate, FosterGate, PaulaGate, RapeGate and so on.

The Republicans need to understand - turnabout is fair play. You've given us a guy with a freaking target painted on his back. Don't expect us to forget.

4. Please...Get It Right...It Was A Congressman
I appreciate your passion, but please be a little more careful on the big details.

IMHO, this was the wrong platform to use, at this time, to play gotcha on this issue. This is a GOOP tactic that only appeals to the extremes, not the middle that wins elections. It helps re-inforce the "both parties are bad" attitude too many have...especially those who are just as outraged by *'s lies and deceptions but see trashing from the other side just as offensive.

We've got the story out there, and there's lots of questions still to be asked for the media to chew on for weeks and months ahead. I fear of a Democratic wave that could peak too soon...allowing this chickenshit off the hook for his Nam lies and let these bastards create other diversions to confuse or disenfranchise those who aren't "true believers".

Lastly, an outburst like this is just what the wingnuts need to energize their own confused hive. Just a few days ago, there were a bunch of posts about dissent in Freeperland...the lunatic fringe. If they're questioning, then you know the "silent majority" is as well...thus the legs on this story. Again, all we have to do is keep questioning the answers or non-answers and keep these slimeballs on the defensive...not give them a rallying cry.

7. Jane Fonda and Kerry
 This is the lunacy of how the right wacko wing will denigrate a war hero. I mean Jane Fonda? Half the voting population probably doesn't even know WTF this is about. Is there anyone more irrelevant to discussions in 2004 than Jane Fonda? What's next? A photo of Black Panthers? Hey, wait a minute, that's not far-fetched.
