Okay, here's the BIG problem on *'s AA National Guard attendance
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 12:32 AM by kurtyboy
Everywhere shrub* goes in this world---EVERYWHERE---people remember him for his folksy, down-home demeanor, or his drinking and carousing, or his meanness, or SOMETHING.

The guy leaves a trail of stories behind him like no one else I can think of, yet not a single AA National Guard member can remember him drilling in the Yellowhammer State. (the AA stands for Alabama Air--no knock on the state militia, I just thought it was a funny acronym to associate with GW*)

WTF!!???!!!?!

I just cannot believe that this is the case. It defies my imagination that this guy who has made a career of schmoozing his way to "success" left no impression with even ONE of the 800 or so airmen he drilled with. Gimmme a break.

1. Here's as big of a problem....his father
He served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations (UN) from 1971 to 1973; chairman of the Republican National Committee from 1973 to 1974.

WE ARE MEANT TO BELIEVE THAT THE COMMANDING OFFICERS AT THE BASE WOULDN'T HAVE KNOWNS IF A VIP's SON WAS GOING TO BE ON BASE. YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!!!

7. The base CO had his picture taken with bush on his first day
Bush's unit commander, Col. "Buck" Staudt, was so excited about his VIP recruit that he staged a special ceremony for the press so he could have his picture taken administering the oath (even though the official oath had been given by a captain earlier.)

While dipshit can't even find one guy--ONE GUY--who'll say he even had so much as a hamburger with him while in the Guard. How pathetic is that?

3. Chimp & inbred bush family have been out of their league
from the beginning. No one could really be surprised by any of what has happened to this country in the last 3 years because of this nitwit including 9/11.

The conservatives know he is a fool, but they also know he does everything they want, so they defend him to the death.

4. The other side of that coin is
That wherever he actually was, there are people out there who know that story too. And not all of them must be Republicans.

5. Good point---
Still waiting to hear from them.

But I hope they don't risk too much when they finally make their stories known.....

Sorry but it does. By the way I was in Charleston at this time and anyone that was in or near a plane went to Vietnam.

11. Military courtesy usually gives the local commander a heads-up ...
The son of a US Congressman is not going to waltz into a local commander's office (ie., AANG) to report for duty without that commander knowing what's up. Hell, I flew VIPs around when I was based at Ft. Sill. Congressional staffers got the red carpet at base ops. Believe me, the military - in 1972 - was extremely paranoid about any adverse information making it into the press and/or back to Washington DC. Anyone linked to the press or to Washington was treated with kid gloves. I saw it first hand.
