Outrage in the Workplace: "Vote Bush to make our work easier"
I work for a large multi-national money managment firm. This week we had a presentation dealing with the new tax laws and how it will affect our clients as I am on the services side. They droned on and on how these changes will affect our reporting because of capital gains rate changes, holding periods, and several other arcane things. The people giving the presentation were from the department that actually generates 1099's and other tax reports.

Anyway, they were discussing how the new laws have really increased their workload and how they've had to put in extra hours. One of the jerk-off's actually said: "So in November, remember, vote for Bush. Because if the Democrats win they are going to undo this and we have to start all over." I chalked this up to levity even as no one, including the presenters, laughed. But then the other presenter began talking about how her son was grateful to Bush because of the elimination of the "marriage penalty". After this sorry performance I turned to my buddy and said "yeah, their workload is more important than massive deficits". I said this a little too loud and elicited a confused but icy look from the dipshit presenter.

1. Too loud?
Sounds like you said it just loud enough.

3. You should have said:
"Yah, vote Bush and we'll ALL be out of jobs! Then NOBODY will have this problem!"

Of the 36 months that bush has been squatting in the White House, I've been unemployed 20 of those months. I'm in my 50's, and have worked since I was 13. NEVER have I been unable to find work, until geedubbya showed up. Now, I have NO retirement savings, and it looks like I'll have NO social security when my time comes.

What a swell guy I think he is.:puke:

5. deficits in job creation too
just a day or two ago - WH released projections of 2.3 million new jobs by the end of the year

the following day this projections was upped to 3.6 million

according to my fuzzy math (using the 3.6 million job figure) this breaks down to approx. 300,000 new jobs per month

the figures released in january indicated 112,000 new jobs

300,000 - 112,000 = 188,000 jobs in the hole
to make up for this job deficit - the month of february will have to produce 488,000 new jobs

(of course, the articles didn't say if these new jobs would be created here in the USA or if they wuld be created elsewhere in the world by US companies)

9. 112,000 new jobs
i wish i had the link to the article. but the REAL january numbers were more like 36,000. they used really FUZZY math as usual.

it was in the NY Daily News or Post business section. (hardly a lefty wacko source.) maybe someone has it

6. I thought that was what the headline stood for.
And we say our thinking does not shade how we see things.

4. 2000 Election
In 2000 the CEO of my husband's company sent around a memo asking everyone to vote for *. He's a great guy, get our economy moving, yada, yada.

It's now 2004 and my husband's pay and benefits have been cut. But guess who was walked out of the door by security guards about four months ago--you guessed it--the CEO.

Sometimes there is justice in this world.

8. Sounds like my co-worker
I work under a grant funded by CDC for Bioterrorism/Chemical Terrorism. And one of my co-workers (a Republican) always says well you know if Bush doesn't win in November all this money is going to be directed elsewhere so we'll be out of a job.
