Did B* really say this? “I was not prepared to shoot my eardrum out..."
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 10:16 PM by buycitgo
Full quote, from Houston Chronicle (1994), accordoing to David Corn's book on Bush lies, I assume, as quoted at Michael Moore's site:

“I was not prepared to shoot my eardrum out with a shotgun in order to get a deferment. Nor was I willing to go to Canada. So I chose to better myself by learning how to fly airplanes.”

did I miss a thread devoted to this mind boggling bit of patriotic inspiration?

surely the freeps will want to enshrine that along with ''Give me Liberty or Give me Death,'' or ''I regret that I have only one life to give for my country''....that sort of thing, right?

I mean, how does this stack up with all those Gore 'quotes' that made him seem so UNpresidential?

he should be faced with this quote EVERY time he appears in public for the remainder of his miserable failure of a cowardly, traitorous existence.

think about it... what would you have to be missing to be able to safely shoot JUST your eardrums out?

8. of course that's what he "meant"
the media have been doing similar Quackser Fortune duty behind his oral dungheaps ever since he's been squatting in your house.

it's been demonstrated over and over how they've cleaned up his gaffes, his misstatements, his idiocies.

never trust a transcript

I've started to tape everything I see

it's going to be VASTLY entertaining if he gets the boot in nine months....shudder to think of the alternative

11. I saw that too, at this link
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4114162
To me, this is even more significant than whether of not he skipped out on drills in Alabama. It goes right to the heart of his character, or lack thereof. He supported the war in Vietnam, yet was unwilling to serve there and let others, even some who had doubts about our being there (like Kerry, e.g.), serve and sometimes die in his place? Put that at the start of a business career that doesn't even rise to mediocre, repeatedly bailed out by his daddy's friends and their money, and how could this man ever be trusted with the precious lives of our military people? Has he ever cared about anybody but himself?
I agree, I would pound on this even harder than the AWOL issue, which, while potentially damaging to shrub, may also backfire. Let's have some obviously disabled Vietnam Vets (I'm one) show up at some of his campaign appearances holding signs saying things like "Did I take your place in Vietnam?" or "Donated (leg, arm, eye, spinal cord, whatever) so you could hide in the Guard".

12. He might wish that he had made himself deaf
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 11:00 PM by countmyvote4real
since there are holes in his records about how earnest he really was about learning to fly.

I wish he'd gone for the deaf option.

Of course, the way he talks sounds like he did.
