Comcast to buy Disney?
``This is a very exciting moment,'' Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said in a conference call with investors and analysts. Roberts said the combination ``would create one of the world's premier entertainment and communications companies, and, we believe, restore the Disney brand to prominence and the company to growth.''

Uh, how does one company buying a smaller one help out the smaller one become profitable?

I hate Comcast, their proces are outrageous... add in that I hate Disney because they only make crap and then defend it by any means necessary (yes, they'll charge lot$ just so an elementary school can put on a show that they own :eyes:, maybe that's why so many schools are in financial trouble...)

It'll help Comcast get richer... won't help anyone else unless they add several more Gay Days to their agenda. :eyes:

1. I can't stand Comcast
Ever since they took over our cable, we have more channels and less selection. Their movie package is terrible. They added a channel for BYU, for God's sake. And now they are going to raise their rates by 4%. Their selection of video channels isn't as good and I don't like whatever their package is that replaced DMX.

2. This is sad for Disney
Yep, I'm a Disney Defender

<puts on flame-guard suit>

The company has been run into the ground by soul-less corporate types.
Roy Disney has been trying to oust Eisner for some time now.
It makes me sad. Walt was a capitalist, yes. But he liked to make money primarily in order to fund his next big dream.
He brought wonder and happiness to a lot of people.

I'm not ashamed to say that some of my happiest memories involve either Disneyland or one of Disney's movies. (Some of my happiest memories are Disney-free, I'm not a total Disney-geek).

3. Just another step towards...
the total merging of all corporations into one. Then that Company becoming the world government.

4. Today on NPR they were saying the time is right because
of the Bush administrations lean to big business.

5. I Suspect There Will Be A Big Quiet Rise
In used Satellite Recievers and unobtrusive dishes while Comcast jacks up their rates to pay for the deal with the other SATV/CATV providers following the lead.

How much theft by "pirating" a broadcast signal is involved when you're stealing from a thief?

6. Bad question!
I ask the same thing toward people who 'pirate' Windows operating system software... at one time there was a big lawsuit because MS stole Apple code. (Mac code being found in the Windows code... if there was a lawsuit about Windows 3.x looking and acting like MacOS, I don't want to know because MacOS of the time was far better than Windows 3.x!!)

As I've switched to Linux, it makes no difference in the end anyway. :D
