WOW! Rhandi Rhodes kicks @$$!

This is the first time I have heard her (listening online). I am not sure I will agree with everything she says, but boy does she make a ton of alot more sense than the typical RW guys you hear. There are no talking points here. She has been skewering Bush on cutting funds for fire-fighters. Then talked about a caller she heard on Rush Limbaugh today. Basically the caller argued to Rush that the "new jobs" Bush is creating don't even have good benefits (like health insurance). Rush apparently told the caller it was his own responsibility to get health insurance. Well Rhandi did circles around that, suggesting that maybe we need to provide our own fire protection too since Bush is cutting that. Boy she has a knack for making these people look stupid.

Well, mostly I do anyway.

This seems like as good a time as any to post a confessional. I don't really listen to her anymore. I live in an area (Delray Beach) where I can listen to her on the actual AM radio. There's not much difference I suppose, though I'm guessing the online version cuts out all the ads and other in-between pieces.

When I first heard her I found it very refreshing to have an actual Liberal on the air. The novelty had me tuning in just about every day. After awhile though her style began to grate. Her treatment of the inevitable legions of Rushbots that call in for example just doesn't sit well. She will routinely cut them off and publicly berate them, humiliate them, and use her control of the microphone as a bully pulpit. Perhaps it is nothing more than most of them deserve but I cringe just the same.

She is almost precisely the mirror-image of Rush Limbaugh. Rush claims to have "talent on loan from God" while Randi declares herself "The Goddess". Rush shouts down dissent; so does she. And so forth. There are some minor differences. She does seem to take extra care to ensure that her sources and material is legitimate information instead of the made-up happy horseshit that Rush oftens espouses.

Don't misunderstand. I think it is a very good thing that we have someone like her on the air. In a card game where everyone cheats you'd better cheat too or you are gonna lose. Just the same I find that I rarely tune her in anymore.

Haven't heard any dissenting callers yet, but I agree, I don't care if your liberal or conservative, I don't like when callers get shouted down. There is no need for it.
