Time to beat Shrub with the Quayle stick!
Dan Quayle also did National Guard duty in the 60's (69-75) but he managed to serve his total term (ie didn't "work it out" and leave early) and what's more ... he managed to get a law degree while serving in the NG ... not like Shrub who had to work it out.

Damn! If Dan Quayle can serve and go to school, it says a lot for the intellectual capacity (or lack thereof) of the current Commander in Thief.

2. I am, by no means, a Dan Quayle fan, but I felt sorry for him
when Bush get the GOP nomination. He had to be thinking, "Everyone says I'm not smart enough to be president and they elect the moron?"

Quayle is an intellectual giant compared to Shrub. If he had just given a few reporters some nicknames, he might be president now.

3. OK - I confess
Believe it or not, I actually think Dan Quayle was unfairly targeted during his tenure in the WH - I have heard him speak and he's not the bumbling, stumbling idiot he was made out to be.

#43 on the other hand ... :eyes:

5. No shame there
One more case of the media (ugh!) inventing the 'truth'.

4. nah
although his family was rich and well connected, they were not nearly aristocratic enough to get the free pass that junior got. As the Bush's like to remind people they are related to British Royalty you know, so they deserve special treatment beyond that which their wealth and political connections alone would imply. :eyes:
