e-mailed CNN re: cutting away from WH press briefing....
....yesterday morning. Shameless media whoring!

I was dismayed that CNN found it necessary to cut away from the White House press briefing yesterday morning just when the reporters were starting to put the heat on Scott McClellan regarding Bush’s service in the Texas Air National Guard. It was pretty obvious that CNN had nothing more important to report on, but stopped the coverage of the briefing because you didn’t like the direction it was taking.

It might interest you to know that some of us would like to know the truth about our un-elected President’s service record. Who made the decision to stop coverage of the briefing? Was it one of your producers, or did the order come from Karl Rove’s office?

You in the media, who have participated in the lies told by the Bush administration, and assisted in the unprecedented propaganda campaign to get us into the illegal war in Iraq, should face a war crimes tribunal along with the criminals in the Bush administration. If there is any justice left in the world, that is what will take place, once we have ousted these thugs, and restored democracy to the United States.

You should be ashamed at your disgraceful betrayal of the American people. You are not journalists, but toadies for a corrupt administration.

4. Have you forgotten that Clinton
was impeached for lying about consenual sex? I don't recall that anyone died after Monica and Clinton had sex.

Bush lied about his service to the military. He used that service to bolster his case that he knew the military. Then he led us to war where over 500 Americans have died and many more have lost legs and arms and other parts of their body.

6. Had Bush not manufactured a photo-op on an aircraft carrier in a flight
suit, supposedly flying there himself, with the banner "Mission Accomplished" in the background, it is likely that this issue would have never been revived.

He made his bed. Now he has to lie on all the nails that are sticking up.

7. "Lack of service"
Is not the issue. Bush's failure to perform the duties he willingly agreed to do, and his subsequent lying about his failure to do those duties is the issue.

But you know that, don't you?

Clinton is not a draft dodger. Do some research and stop listening to talk radio.

And, more importantly, its not Democrats who are bringing up this issue.

Its Bush.

Bush is the one who is trying to pretend to be a war hero, and is trying to run as a patriotic war hero.

Remember that Aircraft Carrier landing stunt? Of course you do.

That was Bush. And he was trying to cash in on the war hero image.

Turns out he was never in a war, but actually got a defferment thanks to who his daddy was. Hell, that wasn't good enough for Bush. He decided he was too important even to show up for that, while thousands of Americans died in Vietnam.

But I guess its their fault for not being a Bush, right?

10. much more relevant
Clinton never portrayed himself as a "military leader", he never ponced around in a quasi-military uniform on an air-raft carrier, & he never lied about the reasons for going to war. Besides he was not a "draft-dodger" unlike Bush he only had the options open to an ordinary citizen and did not receive any special treatment and he eventually did enter the draft lottery.

Bush's TANG record is very relevant because Bush made it relevant.

Don't worry, I'm going to stay around but I'm not also going to agree with what everyone says. Why must the mods ban me just because I sometimes have a different point of view. Must all dems think alike?
Conspiracy theories about the media is for rightwingers, not democrats. Too much time is lost on hating George Bush and not enough effort is being put into ideas and thoughts that would make America better. Plus, that whole "anyone but Bush" mentality is so childish. While I would like to see Bush go, I would not want to replace him with a Ralph Nader or Howard Dean type. I like John Kerry (he's not my first choice) and I think he will give George Bush a run for his money.

19. Conspiracy theories my ass!
You aren't paranoid if they really are trying to get you!

The right wing bias of the media is so blantantly obvious that you must be in serious denial to not see it.

Why do you think anyone who criticizes Bush should automatically be dismissed as a "Bush hater"? There are plenty of reasons to hate his policies. Why shouldn't we question his administration?

We have plenty of ideas that would make America better, but they are dismissed as radical, socialist, communist, unpatriotic, and on and on.

20. ABB
is hardly childish. It's a matter of survival. If Chimp 'wins' a second term, things are going to get REALLY bad. The loss of 3 million jobs, spiraling deficits, worsening air and water quality, and loss of personal privacy are all going to seem like a picnic if Chimpy gets four more years.

21. Perhaps DU is not the place for you
if you can't understand that Bush is the #1 problem facing this country right now. If ABB is so childish why not go to a more "adult" forum like www.freerepublic.com I'm sure they'd agree with you.

22. The only problem
The only problem with me go to www.freerepublic.com is the fact I'm not a conservative. I guess I'm being shunned by my own people. Maybe you should rename your forum ultra-left wing democratic forum. I'm more left/center. Maybe you can provide an URL to a more moderate democratic site.

13. Clinton was no draft dodger
That charge is baloney and typical right wing deception. He wasn't drafted because they started the draft lottery and he got a high number.

He did apply for the Arkansas National Guard, before the lottery and was accepted. After the lottery, when he knew he wouldn't be drafted, he told the Guard he was no longer interested.

That is not draft dodging.

And Bush's lack of service isn't the issue. The issue is his failure to fulfill his commitment. He signed onto the Guard. He claimed that he did what everyone else in the Guard did--with no special treatment. That is total bullshit and everyone is now getting to see the truth.

15. give me a break...your weak response menas little
Clinton did not go into military service and told people he didn't.

Bush didn't do any military service and says he did, and the media wouldn't even ask him about it until last week!!!

I know you Repubes are hurting right now, but, please, stop looking so desperate! It's unbecoming!

17. I know plenty of Republican Veterans that served in Vietnam
while Bush was failing to perform his cushy stateside duty. What the hell has this to do with politics? If Bush's failure is not important I must assume that a similar failure of National Guardsmen currently serving in Iraq would be no big deal to you either. Correct? Why can't you support our military? Why would you seek to discount Mr. Bush's abandonment of his brothers in arms? I'll say it again this hasn't got a damn thing to do with politics....what it has to do with is a privileged little shit, who struts around in Navy pilot attire, skating out on his duties....a privileged little shit who now expects others to execute theirs or face serious consequences.

3. I watched it last night on CSPAN
I wasn't aware until now that CNN cut away from that press briefing.

That is just pathetic.

Did you get to see the rest of the show?

It was really gratifying

8. Never rely on the networks to show the briefings
I used to fume while they muted the sound on them and then the anchors would "tell us what was going on"..

Go to www.whitehouse.gov and click the briefing link on the left side menu..

They show them entirely and you can even watch the past ones..

c-span shows them when congress is not in session, but now that they are back, they only have c-span3 available, and they might not carry the conferences..
