.
.

After all, it's sorta a DIFFERENT kinda war, ?

This is after all the first time the USA has literally gone in and invaded and occupied a country, as opposed to "helping" some other government maintain or achieve power - - -

The USA literally went in and created a vacuum, noone left to rule the country

Well noone that they LIKED --

This is nowhere near like WW1 or WW2 where other countries at war needed help

So here's hoping that the US voters get that insane man offa the throne down there !!

5. Of course I agree and would even go further, however...
the Average tube jock is only starting to get a little taste of the info that we in the know have had since before this war. Most people bought into the "9/11-WMD-AlQuaeda-Dangerous Man" mantra and shrugged their shoulders. We need the votes!

6. Some historical precedents
no president that has won the electoral college but lost the popular vote has gone on to win re-election.

Also, Churchill was voted out after WWII.

7. Hmmmmm. It's really a technicality
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 09:10 AM by jfxgillis
I'd say it's a virtual certainty that Truman would've been voted out, and only slightly less certain that LBJ would've been voted out, if they hadn't been literate enough to see the writing on the wall and drop out.

Bush can't read wall writing too good.

Or let me put this another way: Bush has already made history by being the first President to screw the pooch in a War and not drop out.

9. We should respect him as a "wartime president"
Just as much as we should exhibit compassion for the Menendez Brothers for being orphans.

12. I agree with everything siad, however will the average American, not privy
to the depth of information you can get with a minimal effort (the average American expends little or no energy to be informed) finally wake up to the scene and vote him out? For the first time real challenges to Bush as a "prsident" are coming out in the mainstream press (meaning that the stuff people are being spoonfed by the media is finally containing a few Bush-negative parts per million). Will it change the all-mighty public opinion.

13. I think that the avg American...
is finally moving to the notion that being informed, is a GOOD thing.

bush is toast, he knows it, the nation knows it; forces within his own party are moving against him. Say 'buh-bye' george.

18. It's not a war it's an invasion
No one attacked us. So this doesn't count as a war. But don't forget, the war on terra is endless.

20. Wartime President? We aren't at war.
If you wanna call this 'war', then Bush the Elder was the first wartime President voted out. After all, the 'war on drugs' that started under Reagan has never been declared over and our troops have been in the air, ground, and sea in South America fighting that war ever since.

The 'war on terra' is no more a 'war' than the 'war' on drugs. The only similarity between war and these 'wars' is that the US military is being tasked with crime-fighting instead of combatting a military enemy.

21. I suppose it is fitting, seeing as
He has got to be the only "wartime" President in history to insist that we are at war but take a monthlong vacation once a year and demand that we pass a massive tax cut for the wealthiest Americans.

Disgusting.

Be voted out? He should be so lucky.

His ass should be booed out of the White House as he is dragged away in handcuffs.
