Research project for Alabamans
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 05:40 AM by dpibel
Calpundit http://www.calpundit.com/ sez that some of the supposed service dates on the new, improved, exculpatory Fierce Warrior Chieftain records were right before the Blount election. He speculates that would have been a time when Our Boy George, election chair for Blount, would have been much too busy for any little National Guard nonsense.

He's looking for folks in Alabama to look at newspapers from the applicable time and see if any of them mention Young Geo doing campaign stuff when the records say he was Nationally Guarding.

Don't know how big Calpundit's readership is, but this seems right up the alley of DUers.

(If you can't find the blog entry, it may get archived overnight -- it's in the 2/10 stuff, about halfway through.)

Edited for missing "o" and close parens.

1. Sounds like microfiching time at the local library; most local librarys
keep news stories available on the 'fiche or CD-Rom. Never thought I'd want to be in Alabama but there you go.

Where teen sex meets the Dark Ages, and why you never, ever want to live in Kansas
By Mark Morford
Kneel down. Put your hands together. Offer thanks right this very moment to whatever deity you desire that that you are not 18 years old and gay and living in the state of Kansas right now.

3. Changing History
Since 1990 there has been a coordinated effort to shut down state and local historical societies and libraries. In some places they actually did throw out all the books and documents in the middle of the night, desitnation unknown. The fact that they didn't get away with it most places has a lot to do with the Army of mild mannered Genealogists who frequent those places. They spoke out early and won.
