Scary Freeper stuff
I just went to the Freeper site and read this:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/956073/posts

Apparently they find polls that are leaning left wing and "freep" them by having all the conservatives on the site go and vote to push the polls in the "right" direction.

Do were ever "DU" a poll or something?

19. These unscientific polls mean absolutely nothing to anybody.
They are not scientifically representative of the population and results can NOT, therefore, be projected to the population. Anybody who wastes time voting in such a poll, freeping such a poll, or de-freeping such a poll is using their time about as unproductively as humanly possible. On second thought, spending time lurking over at freeperville just might be even less productive than voting in a stupid, meaningless, worthless, unreliable internet poll.

20. DO NOT UNFREEP POLLS!
We always get to them late and they have the advantage in sheer numbers...I say, once they have a poll at 80% on their side, which is usually ridiculous, since most issues ate a 50-50 split among the public, I say that is when we pile on and vote on THEIR side of the issue...pushing it to 90-95%
That way the poll will look ridiculous and anyone who reads/hears about it will know it was manipulated. When we start trying to "unfreep" something, it ends up being 65%-35% against us, and almost looks legitimate to the casual viewer.

know what I'm saying?

14. You cannot hide from the truth forever!!!
Read it for yourself - these animals will stop at nothing!!! I know it's hard to imagine that any conservative would ever be involved in any form of deception but they are and right under our noses!!!

We must spread the word!!! All DUers should know about the levels these people would stoop to!!!

16. Unlike freepers, we have integrity... So we don't flood polls with lies...
but then, they're the party of liars, cheats and thieves... That's who represents them, and what they stand for.

We just aren't thugs....

3. I used to think on-line non-scientific polls were meaningless...
...but in fact they are shaping the public's perception of issues because the media is reporting them as if they are valid.

It's not the truth, but the public's perception of the truth that ultimately rules.

Scary thought.

4. Xray s
that's my concern as well. That people seeing these polls will assume that there's more (or less) support for a particular progressive issue.

17. Or instead of falling to their level,
Every DUer should send a link to CNN, MSRNC, etc., of the Freeper thread that's calling for a freep of that poll. If every DUer sent a link in the "comments" text box they would:
a)realize that their polls are full of shit (as if they don't already)
b)know that we know that their polls are full of shit
c)possibly make their polls harder to freep
d)What the hell are you looking at me for? I'm tired and need a shower! You can't come up with your own damn d)?
e)I'm sorry about that outburst. It was really unnecessary.
f)OK I'm done now.

6. Pretty widely known...
Interesting that their idea of freedom is stuffing the ballot box.

Something that is easy to do on the internet and will soon be as easy as pie in the general elections with those electronic voting machines (which are all made by right wing whackos.)

7. to freep a poll
is beneath contempt. Let the Freepers stoop as low as they like. We should never compromise any principles because gutless Freepers do it.

You only get one vote per day.
How can they vote more than once anyway?
Doesn't "Freep" mean go there and vote?

No it means vote over and over
You just have to vote and then delete the cookie from your computer and then vote again and delete the cookie from your computer, ad infinitum. At Freakrepublic they give instruction on how to do it.

13. "Freeping" or "Unfreeping" polls
is a necessary evil. It would be nice if everyone would just leave them alone, but if the freepers want to act like facist little children DU'ers are free to fight fire with fire.

15. The proper DU method of 'DE FREEPING' polls....
....Step 1, First make sure the poll is actually getting 'Freeped'.
Go to Freerepublic and find the thread where they brag about the 'Freeping'.

Step 2, Locate the e-mail address for the web-master of the site hosting the poll and open your e-mail 'compose' window. Cut and paste the messages that describe the method of the 'freep' and any mention of multiple voting into the body of the e-mail. Also cut and paste a link to the thread!
Add a suggestion that they add an IP address filter to disallow multiple votes from the same IP address. (This alone will NOT stop them, it only slows them down!) You can also suggest that they include the ID number from the NIC or Modem card in the computer into the 'cookie' info as an additional filter to prevent multiple votes from registering if someone cycles power on their modem to get a new address. (They can also filter by the first three octets of the address only.)

Step 3, Send the e-mail.

step 4, Cast your 1 vote and post a link to the poll here inviting others to DU the same!

Step 5, Sit back and watch as the future poll results start to resemble the CNN polls of late!

When this happens you know that you have successfully DUped the Poll!

21. The Webmaster Posted on FR
"Hello all. It was brought to my attention that our NBC 6 Poll had been 'freeped'. As the webmaster at kcentv.com I'd like to thank you for posting your votes in our online poll. I just noted that our poll numbers have shot up drastically this evening. Could someone explain to me what the word 'freeped' means?
Many thanks.

- NBC 6 Webmaster"

HAHAHAHAHAHA... Freepers BUSTED!

22. Remember..Freepers don't have lives or careers...
...so they have all day, in Daddy's basement, to surf the net and spike polls, which everyone else will largly ignore.

Rather pathetic, really.

24. This is half the reason freerepublic.com exists....
They have been doing this for years, and it works quite well for them (used with alarming effectiveness before the last two elections, for example). As always, the best prescription for this type of behavior is exposure to the light of day.
