Smoking ban in Fayetteville, Arkansas passes 52% to 48%
Fayettevile Arkansas just joined San Francisco, New York City, Arlington, TX, El Paso, TX, and Lexington, KY among others in passing a complete smoking ban in restaurants and restaurant/bars. The vote was 52% to 48% with around 11,000 votes cast - which is comparable to a general election.

Lots of money (from Tobacco interests and otherwise) poured into the other side, and they lost.

1. Yipeee!
As a longtime member of Americans for Non-Smoker's Rights, I applaud this decision.

California has been quite happily smoke-free since 1991.

Make your community next!

2. Boston has been non-smoking for a year, and surrounding towns are too
they're trying to impose a statewide ban.

3. Oops, sorry I left you out...
good luck on the statewide ban. We are now turning our attention to Little Rock and then a statewide ban.

8. Well I don't own a machine gun.
But if I did, I might very well smoke while shooting it.

5. Even at the pool hall?
Someone told me that they even started writing tickets for throwing a butt out the car window.
When are they gonna ban meth?
