Was the FAA involved in 9/11 ?IHOP?
The lead article on this site:

February 5-- Venice, Florida.
by Daniel Hopsicker

A software company called Ptech, founded by a Saudi financier placed on America’s Terrorist List in October 2001, had access to the FAA’s entire computer system for two years before the 9/11 attack.
Last week, when the National 9/11 Commission held hearings on The Aviation Security System and the 9/11 Attack, government and aviation officials described a system unprepared for the events that unfolded on September 11. None of them, however, mentioned security breaches involving “Saudi terrorists in the basement of the FAA.”

Yet that's what happened, according to a high-level risk analyst who had troubling dealings with the firm.

I might have very good relationships with the source in said article
and there is no question that the saudi's had years advance access
to FAA records...

does this mean anything? anymore?

1. And that would get them what?
The big trick in getting information for the attack amounted to getting the flight schedules for that day. Not a daunting task. There does not need to have been a massive infiltration to put this attack in motion.

2. wouldn't that also get them...
any planned diversions, alternate flight paths, and active status of flights?... as well as history of all events that happened in US aviation during the period recorded in the database?

Methinks the breach rather large... certianly a mission planner's goldmine, given the state of affairs at the time. It was basically a dabase of missiles that don't target, but which could be reprogrammed TO target... is this INSIGNIFICANT? given what transpired?

I agree, it is not a MIHOP smoking gun... no... he's still in his chair. It does, however, point to the whitewash they're giving to the white house this coming spring. Tony blair tried similar painters, and was less than impressed with the results... perhaps it works better in washington. ;-)

3. The really big trick
if actually true, would be for the FAA to have a 28-minute delay in informing NORAD about AA77 going off course - after the triple hijacking and two crashes, with a fourth hijacking by then underway - after setting up the open line between FAA, White House and NORAD. According to the official timeline the notifications for AA11 and UA175 were both delivered in about 15 minutes (also much longer than SOP would have it). What's up with that? The FAA has denied it, by the way, in the following press release:

http://www.unansweredquestions.net/timeline/2003/faa052203.html

FAA Communications with NORAD On September 11, 2001
FAA clarification memo to 9/11 Independent Commission

May 21, 2003

Within minutes after the first aircraft hit the World Trade Center, the FAA immediately established several phone bridges that included FAA field facilities, the FAA Command Center, FAA headquarters, DOD, the Secret Service, and other government agencies. The US Air Force liaison to the FAA immediately joined the FAA headquarters phone bridge and established contact with NORAD on a separate line. The FAA shared real-time information on the phone bridges about the unfolding events, including information about loss of communication with aircraft, loss of transponder signals, unauthorized changes in course, and other actions being taken by all the flights of interest, including Flight 77. Other parties on the phone bridges, in turn, shared information about actions they were taking. NORAD logs indicate that the FAA made formal notification about American Flight 77 at 9:24 a.m., but information about the flight was conveyed continuously during the phone bridges before the formal notification.

I WANT TO SEE THE TRANSCRIPT OF THIS "PHONE BRIDGE"!

4. Some background on PTech

http://www.computerworld.com/securitytopics/security/story/0,10801,77682,00.html Ptech workers tell the story behind the search (2003 article)

I am not sure anything came of PTech allegations according to this article. They are near Boston. Here is another article:

Terrorist probe hobbles Ptech
http://www.computerworld.com/securitytopics/security/story/0,10801,77680,00.html

"The White House has given Ptech Inc.'s software a clean bill of health, and most of its customers and strategic business partners remain committed to its technology. But the company, investigated for having an al-Qaeda connection, has still become a casualty of the war on terrorism."

And then finally.....
http://www.computerworld.com/securitytopics/security/story/0,10801,77887,00.html Funding scrutiny may spread

Enterprise software company Ptech Inc. may be only one of many firms that could be investigated for having possible links to terrorist financiers, experts on terrorism and crisis management are warning. And other companies do in fact have histories similar to that of Ptech, Computerworld has confirmed.

5. Who are the Saudis?
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 07:30 PM by boobooday
I thought they were our friends??? Gosh, you're so suspicious. Just because Saudi Arabia attacks us, just because they're such good business partners of the Bushes, and just because in retaliation Bush attacks two completely different countries while spiriting all the Saudi royal family members out of the country . . .

The view is scary from here on the grassy knoll, and I'm sorry, but I can't get off of it. There's this concept that government should avoid not only corruption but the APPEARANCE of corruption. Bush has that under control. He just makes sure his corruption never appears in the light of day. But my god, it reeks to high heaven. This link you posted might be the thing that finally sends me over the edge . . . rolling down the grassy knoll, right into a ditch. Crikey, will it ever end? Say it will.

6. The post 9/11 part of this story is equally interesting
snip>

When Singh alerted authorities, and her employer, what she encountered was the inexplicable wrath of a top Wall Street Bank, as well as an official wall of silence at the FBI.

“I took everything I had at that point back to my boss at JP Morgan Chase,” she states. “He didn’t want to deal with it. So I called his boss,  because at this point I realized I was sitting on dynamite.”

“The various heads of the security functions at the bank set up an interview with me, and it quickly  escalated to the bank’s General Auditor, who introduced himself to me as JP Morgan Chase’s ‘chief thug.’”

We didn’t know banks like JP Morgan had thugs, we said.

“He introduced himself as the General Auditor,” said Singh, “but he said, for the real purposes of what he does at JP Morgan Chase, I am the ‘chief thug.’”

“He basically told me to keep my mouth shut and look the other way, and enjoy a wonderful life here at JP Morgan, and if I didn’t I was out.”

Alerting the bosses at one of America’s largest banks to a terror threat had certainly produced a strange result. Singh had entered a hall of mirrors, especially after she discovered that the terrorist threat was real.
