1. obviously Scott didn't read Richard Cohen's column

Just because Bush got paid, DOES NOT mean he showed up, bonehead!

3. just a simple answer, please!
not gonna happen!

We are merely going to assert over and over that "he fulfilled his duties!" without further explanation.

"These documents clearly show..."

What, These documents? These don't show anything! How do you read these?

Josh Marshall says
that Kevin Drum all over the nitty-gritty details of the relevant documents. And while some of his points -- as he himself says -- remain speculative, he's on a trail that could turn this whole story upside-down.

Now lying Scotty McClelland is desperately trying to use Rove's tactic...repeat the same lies (official line) over and over again and never answer the questions.

Lying Scotty never answers the questions.

16. Yep
I still remember Mike McCurry defending Clinton, and McCurry was good too, it was just too much pressure for a human to withstand.

But I don't feel sorry for Scotty. He knew the job was dangerous when he took it. :)

11. One for all and all for one? The WH can't shun all of them
The reporters need to speak out and keep it coming in waves, like the Dem candidates are doing.

This is such a novelty there will be a ripple effect - WH reporters asking substantive questions being covered by the major news outlets and talk shows.

19. It begins.
I hope the legitimate press doesn't let this go. It's starting out like Watergate. Keep you fingers crossed. First there were the endless denials and coverups broadcast on TV and then the Nixon "I am not a crook speech", and finally the resignation of Nixon and "you aren't going to have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore". (I am doing these quotes from memory, so the wording may be a little different but not much.)

I am feeling a little bit of hope.

24. But...all the Republicans are hearing is that...
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 01:25 PM by Q
...this 'paperwork' shows that he 'served and was paid'. They won't question this issue beyond that point.

- But Bush's* Talking Head & official Apologist never did answer the question as to why Bush* refused to take the physicial that grounded him from flying.

- Also...the guy who came up with these records is Dan Bartlett...the man who was accused of 'scrubbing' Bush's* records in 1997.

- One reporter is saying the 'proof' they were handed is all 'smeared' and unreadable. She suggests the 'president' owes the people and the military a better explanation of his service.

- McClellan is angry because the press won't accept these feeble documents as proof that Bush* wasn't absent without leave. Scotty says that some want to 'gain a partisan political advantage' from these accusations.

37. I like this analogy
I think Bush's speech on MTP was a big mistake.By having to respond to the AWOL question once it validates all the other reporters asking now.

The media is like a school of dumb sharks, but once they smell blood.... :)

One nitpick though.I could be wrong, and I hope someone corrects me if so,but the Nixon quote ""you aren't going to have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore" is from before he became President.

When Nixon lost the Kah-lee-forn-ya Gubernatorial race to Pat Brown in the 1960's he said "you won't have Dick Nixon to kick around any more". If only that had been true!

26. He Won't Answer The Question - Was Bush There?
I have never seen such sidestepping in my life.

For Christ's sakes, he had to serve WITH someone. Just bring forward one single person who was there in the same room with him?

Ask what in the name of Allah he did while he was there? Name one thing, did he file papers, did he sweep the floor, what on earth did he do?
