The one thing we have to make sure that EVERYONE knows as a FACT
You, me and every single one of us needs to make sure that everyone we know and meet KNOWS that Bin Laden WILL be captured before the election. WHether it's tommorrow, during the Boston convention or in October EVERYONE needs to know it's coming and KNOW that Rove made sure of the timing. It's the only way to limit the damage.

6. not only do I feel
it will make us safer, but maybe give those victims of 9/11 a sense of closure.

Let me say again, capturing Bin baby it a good thing!

There is only one reason you do not want him captured and his name is Bush.

11. It will make us safer? What has Bin Laden done since 2001?

He's a non-sequitur. An irrelevance. If there is another terrorist attack, it'll come from a completely different angle.

12. For "closure", why doesn't Bush cooperate....
With the investigation of 9/11. Why doesn't he release ALL requested material? Why doesn't he testify?

The actual cause/effect relationship between Bin Ladin & 9/11 has not been proven. In fact, the Taliban offered him to the US if proof could be provided. No, Bush had to conquer Afghanistan, leaving the border with Pakistan unguarded, giving his pet "terrorist" time to escape.

Then, Bush got distracted by Saddam.

I wouldn't mind Bin Ladin out of the picture (not that we know he's still alive). But, for the safety of the world, I really want Bush out of Washington.

7. You have been here long enough to understand that most things are
Political It is the political damage that could happen if Bush* suddenly "Smokes him out" and "Gets His Man" a month before the election. Of course we all want Osama Bin Laden caught and prosecuted for any crimes he may have committed against the United States but we don't want the Bush* Cabal to politicize this as being something only Republicans could accomplish. We have no evidence that Bin Laden had anything to do with 9-11. It is all based on the word of a LIAR. We would like to see FACTS.

2. Yeah and some gov't agency will probably be able to plant some WMDs
in some remote place in Iraq where we really haven't spent much time...
I fully expect this corrupt and shameless misadministration to pull whatever manipulations it has to in order to try to steal another election.
(And yes, lurking Freepers, I do understand the Electoral College...the point is, not all the popular votes were counted, which could have changed the results of the Electoral College, get it, you witless wonders??)

5. Maybe. I get what you're saying...
...and you may very well be right, but at this moment I can't accept this as a done deal. In any case, I hope that he is caught. But if that's all Bush has to offer, I still believe he's going to lose. As a political strategy, this strikes me as putting all your eggs in one basket---i.e., not a very smart strategy.

8. It's not the "only" strategy...it's part of the whole picture:
It's important that people realize that it COULD have been done before we killed 20,000 people in Iraq and Afghanistan, but it WASN'T done...because Bush needed to get more (Halliburton) mileage out of Osama.

By exposing the fact NOW that it will happen before the election, only serves to expose the transparency of the neocon agenda.

Osama is going to get caught...it's just a matter of taking the helium out of the balloon air pump in advance, and making sure everyone knows it will just be some more political hot air when it comes out, as usual.

Who was the republican Senator that said he KNEW Osama would be caught in the next few months? You know....The same one that said he KNEW Saddam would be caught, just weeks before he WAS caught?

13. I think it was Chuck Hegel, but the one who 'predicted' Saddam capture
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 02:24 PM by mike1963
was a different one, and I can't think of his name right now...it's a kind of 'double' name...from Illinois IIRC
edit: just recalled Ray LaHood

9. We need the timeline
Someone has posted before the dates of Bush saying that getting bin Laden was a top priority (right after 9/11) and then of his saying that it wasn't a priority (in '02?). Now, in the last week to 10 days, I've read of 3 different sources saying that we WILL get bin Laden THIS YEAR. Those 3 were Senator Grassley, a general in Afghanistan, and Rush Limbaugh. We need the links to all of this to prove the case that it's going to be a Wag the Dog scenario.

Also, while it may be a good thing in itself to capture bin Laden (assuming he is the mastermind, which not everyone assumes), my questions about that are what took so long, how does this change the fact that Afghanistan is still and will continue to be for some time an unstable mess, and when are the troops coming home?

10. No one will ask...
You, me and every single one of us needs to make sure that everyone we know and meet KNOWS that Bin Laden WILL be captured before the election.

Of course the reasons why someone like bin Laden could exist and how Al Qaeda could grow will never be addressed.

How many new recruits have signed on with Al Qaeda since the invasion of Iraq? Tens of thousands? Hundreds of thousands?
