"If you think Iraq was a threat, you're as dumb as...
people who think the world is flat or the moon landing was a hoax."

2. Pretty much.
Or that believe in creationism, or that George Bush is a good president, etc.

Not that I'd say it.

4. This isn't what they call...
...flame bait is it?

What the heck I'll play along.

Odds of the earth being flat 0%
Odds of the moon landing being a hoax .01%
Odds of Iraq being a threat at the time the war started (small)
Odds of Iraq eventually being a threat (a bit higher)

5. Perhaps a better way to think:
is that the people who said Iraq posed a threat are the bad guys. One thing that is important in life is to STOP BLAMING VICTIMS. The folks who believed Iraq posed a threat did so because the president & his band of evil-doers said it was ....and they had proof. Blame goes entirely to the liars. Now, the victims (in our country) were those who believed this evil lie. Do we stand a good chance of opening their eyes by calling them dumb? By comparing them to other "stupid" groups of people? Or by saying, "You have been lied to!" Think about it. We have one chance to win the 2004 election. Let's not make silly mistakes.

6. I think not
I do not consider anyone who swallowed that nonsense "a victim." The evidence to the contrary was quite easy to obtain. A victim is someone who gets a bomb dropped on his head or his house or his farm or his kids or his office building.

Now, if you want to argue that the best strategy is saying "you have been lied to!", that's fine. But that doesn't mean those who passively bought the lie are unfortunate victims. Hey, I understand that calling them dumb might not be effective... but that doesn't change the fact that they are dumb.

7. You may have hit on
the reason why Kerry is the front runner. Maybe most people who are not DUers feel a kinship with him. Maybe Clark (my choice), Dean, Kucinich make them feel bad about being duped. We who research and know the shrub is a liar feel a kinship with the candidates who were not fooled by Bush either.

8. to the moon....
I would say people are more naive than "dumb." Seriously, has anyone else experienced the "but George Bush is a Christian" phenomenon? Although his actions completely contradict the teachings of Christ, all this man has to say is he's been born again and appointed by God to lead the most powerful nation on Earth. This situation literally defines being an Antichrist. I personally believe that reaching these people through their own sprituality is very, very important. Afterall, the faith really is all about being positive, and I personally don't see any hope in change through negativity.
