HELP: what to do with my political satire
Hi all. I recently completed a 30 minute radio play called
"the President's Big Day" here in NYC. It was written by some great people, and has a lot of great actors. We aired it on Pacifica's WBAI, and it's going to play elsewhere around the country, including public radio stations in Colorado, California, New Mexico and Texas. The producers and I are looking now for additional venues.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. We'd like to get it on as streaming audio on bartcop, takebackthemedia and the like, and to possibly offer it as a premium on buzzflash or DU. If you have any ideas, ie. Internet talk shows or other small radio stations that would air something like that, please let me know.

You can link to it here: http://www.catradiocafe.com/
Scroll down to the December 29, 2003 episode and give it a listen. It's funny!

This is the web site of a great lefty comedy/commentary/satire/culture show. We're not looking to make any money, but to get it out there. Any advice would be great Thanks a million!

1. i will listen to it later

you might send the link to Guy James (BeachBuckeye here on DU).

he couldn't use 30mins of course, but maybe a clip and a plug. he played a satirical song by Chuck Prentiss a couple of weeks back. he also did a call with Chuck and might do the same to help you.

also, i'll be producing a political cabaret later this year in NYC. want to check out your work. again, i couldn't use a 30min piece, but i could use short rants/scenes/blackouts/parodies to intersperse with the original songs. (I have some extraordinary DUers already signed up to contribute)

3. it's an mp3
and it's actually the archive web site of one of the shows it aired on. I'm listening to it right now, and I think it skips a bit, too.

I'll try to get it on streaming audio some time in the near future.

6. Any way to break it down into 2-3 minute serial segments?
You could then offer it as a daily feature on Salon or Slate.

8. Oh! Cat Radio Cafe!
I miss Cat Radio Cafe on WBAI. They always do such good work. I've fallen over laughing at the CCCP material, too. I'll be sure to listen to your show later.

9. cool
thanks. there seem to be a few problems with the mp3 at the beginning of the play, but if you're patient, it's worth it.
