Wow! 700 Club Poll - 9 out of 10 believe Bush lied about Iraq!
Apparently at this point, the evil/fool war Chimp is even managing to lose the Christian Coalition! Outside of defense contractors and oil tycoons - where is Chimpy's support now?? Without Diebold - AWOL is positively doomed!!

12. Chimpy had better sign it...
I just wish that more of the dems and the press would cover this issue. When are the American people going to wake up?

The day Bushler actually reinstates the draft!

3. I wouldn't be so sure about that.
They may think he lied but that doesn't mean they will vote Dem. They could stay home (which would be good for us) but then we still have to get out our vote.

5. I'm not suggesting they'll vote Dem. I agree - they'll stay home.
Which is still awesome for us!

6. Thats why we will see states having constitutional amendments
on their Nov ballots. Though most states have existing laws concerning marriage that will serve the purposes the conservatives want, watch, state constitutions US-wide will be tagged for amendment so that the conservative base will at least show up at the polls. That is the stated Repug plan here in Minnesota.

24. Most Christians are not Rabid Homophobes
They may not like homosexual activity but aren't as upset as you may imagine. If they feel betrayed (and they do) it will take more than some gay bashing to get them out to vote.

about his lying. They're still gonna vote for him. The hypocrits.

7. That's....bizarre.
But, yeah, people will still vote for him. Even if he lied about pretty much every one of our justifications for going to war, they're usually content with the fact that we've fulfilled "humanitarian" goals by deposing the former regime...

And, you're a Saddamite if you say otherwise.

:eyes:

So, really, WMD claims don't matter too much anymore, sadly.

8. But..but...but what about "Support our troops!"?? The Repuke mantra last
Year??

I gotta believe that the percentage of Americans who really don't give a fuck how many young American troops are slaughtered for absolutely nothing - is very small indeed - and surely not enough to carry a national election, for chrissake!!

10. Yeah, but, the war was still right.
Because Bush & Co. say so.

That's enough for your average everyday neocon.

So, the troops have lost their lives, and people will still feel sorry about it, but they'll think that they died for a just cause. Because Bush said so.

11. Yeah, they don't care. Where else would they go??
RWers usually know where their best game in town is, and they VOTE. They don't say, "Oh, WELL, bush did this, 3 years ago, and now I can't vote for him!". They want to win, and they do, tragically.

13. if enough non-millionaire republicans
realize that bushco does NOTHING for them, the DIEBOLD card cannot be played. the margins will be too great.

bush MUST be beaten by a wide margin, for that we NEED angry, unemployed republicans whose sons are dying in Iraq and whose jobs are vanishing here.

in much more detail:

with a grain of salt. Anybody remember this thread?

700 Club said that the Economy has grown 7.2% this year. Is that for real?

16. They'll Vote for God's President Even If He Does Lie Like a Pig in Poo
Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 05:48 PM by jokerman2004
My hair stylist is a fundie who's been trying to get me to her church for almost two years. She finally asked me who I thought would win the election in '04. I said, (just to appeal to her prejudices and keep her happy) I thought Bush would win, but he is very bad for this country--and I began to count the ways...

We finally got around to the "crish-jun" question. I said my hobby is to research current events and so forth, and what I have decided is that Bush is not a true Christian, but uses simple good-hearted Christians to get votes.

I mentioned the doctrine that the New Testament represents a new covenent in which love replaced the laws of the old testament (eye for an eye). I guess fundie preachers don't find that teaching particularly appropriating to their political agenda these days -- she was uterly unfamiliar with the concept...

I presented my argument that the invasion of Iraq was wrong by all standards -- Christian or political.

Her reply was a kind of foggy talking-points reference (not a quote) from Ecclesiastes (sp?) about a time of war and all that BS. I replied with statistics about the thousands of innocent deaths, the lies, the profiteering, the PNAC. Of course she had no idea what I was talking about. It was as if she glazed over and her only reply was, "Yes, but something good will come from it."

They have these people so bamboozled it's almost a cult-like mind-control.

--- Something good will come out of it, huh? Good for who? Not you babe. Not me. Not anyone you or I know.

These people might in fact believe that Armageddon (or something equally toxic) is a necessary inevitability for the World to be made safe for christianism...

Stupid. Spooky. Medieval. Wrong.

17. Ecclesiastes 3
Is what I'm assuming she's talking about. (To everything there is a season, etc etc.) But that's an awfully fatalistic kind of opinion to have. "There is 'a time for war', so it might as well be now! With a God-fearing president to boot."

Meh.

20. yes that's the one
yes that's the one. Seems like an existentialist poem used for meditation upon the cycles of life. Apparently, according to the logic of this new doctrine, everything that a christianist does is fine as long as there's a mention of it in biblical verse and you're ass is covered by Jesus brother of George.

21. Another way to look at this poll--
If even the 700 Club types are going 90-10 "Bush Lied," think about the rest of the public--the ones whose votes are not cast in concrete. 90-10 among the Fundies must translate as at least 99-1 among more rational, and more politically malleable, folk, many of whom care about being lied to, and who will have their revenge for it in November.
