Here's the Repub Line for the General Electrion
From yesterday's MTP transcript:

How about no more tax cuts until the budget is balanced?

President Bush: Well, that's a hypothetical question which I can't answer to you because I don't know how strong the economy is going to be.

I mean, the President must keep all options on the table, but I do know that raising the child lowering the child credit thereby raising taxes on working families does not make sense when the economy is recovering, and that's exactly what some of them are calling for up on Capitol Hill. They want to raise taxes of the families with children, they want to increase the marriage penalty. They want to get rid of those taxes on small businesses that are encouraging the stimulation of new job creation, and I'm not going to have any of it.

I can't believe they are going to use these tired, old lines again and again against our nominee.

1. Well, bu$h's tax cuts have screwed us.
Yes, we got our 1,600$ check last spring but in the meantime my husband lost his job. With 4 kids, a mortgage and bills, we couldn't afford to have the taxes taken out of his unemployment checks. So we have the rebate check and the unpaid unemployment taxes.

So, for the first time ever, we owe taxes this year. THANKS GEORGIE, the first time we can't afford to pay taxes, we owe! I hate that sonofabitch and his brilliant tax plans!

My dad on the other hand (wealthy) gets to pay an assload less in taxes and he definately can afford an extra couple thousand dollars. That is chump change to him.

2. You got a check?
I didn't get a check. No one I've talked to in my circle got a check. I do pay income taxes every year. Have for 41 years. Why didn't I get a check?

4. It was kind of funny because we didn't get a check the first time around
but when we did our taxes last year, somehow we qualified but it is unclear to me how because we got screwed on our refund last year. Do you have kids? You were suppose to get 400$ per kid. The first times checks went out, we didn't get one because we "didn't pay enough in income taxes to qualify". You know the first checks where families got 600 and singles got 300? This tax cut business is very confusing to me, all I know is that it is screwing us.

fees which have all been raised!

3. People don't like paying higher taxes.
Like it or not, it is a selling point.

Does anyone believe that Kerry *won't* raise taxes on the middle-class? I don't.

Will they use it again and again? Yes. It's worked many times before. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

6. Maybe, but...
Does anyone believe that Kerry *won't* raise taxes on the middle-class? I don't.

... I hope he really raises taxes on the richest class and at the same time closes up their loopholes.

I don't mind paying taxes as long as I know that everyone else is paying a fair share. It really makes me furious to see some millionaire paying less than I do.

7. It's the same line that Kerry used on Dean
Won't it be ironic if Bush attacks Kerry with the same issue that Kerry attacked Dean? Kerry knowingly misrepresented his position, because he never pointed out that unless Congress approves another set of tax cuts this year, the middle-class tax cuts expire after this year.
