Should "President" Bush* be subjected to a drug test?
- Millions of Americans have to take a drug test every year in order to get or keep a job. They have to take these tests even though there is no indication that they've ever used or abused drugs.

- It's a difficult thing to say...but it seems apparent...based on his behavior and physical appearance...that the leader of this country (in control of our nuclear forces) is either drinking or using drugs.

- Bush* should be tested in the name of the war(s) on Drugs and Terrorism. It's the right thing to do.

1. Unfortunately
there's nothing in the constitution that makes "drug free" a requirement for holding the position.

It would be a nice example if the Pres did it VOLUNTARILY. But that comes under the heading of fat chance.

3. You're quoting the Constitution...
...in defense of an administration that uses it as toilet paper?

4. There's nothing in there ...
about blowjobs either.

Even if he could be made to take one, do you think for one minute they would risk exposing the actual results. Remember the term is "Life of Priviledge" (the key word is life).

Cheers

7. The federal gov't requires employees to take them. He is an employee.
To not make him take them, wouldn't that violate equal protection, or something? His privacy is proteected more than that of other federal employees?

5. Yes, id federal employees and military are forced to,
why should he be any different. If he doesn't have to, that's unfair.

9. I agree, especially if modern tests can detect alcohol abuse.
As for Bush*, I think ALL our candidates should pledge to take a test, monitored by a reputable third-party. Then they could DEMAND that Bush* do the same. I don't think he could pass one, unless his current behavior is due to early-onset Alzheimer's.

12. They are all on Ambien
...Or so said Colin Powell in an interview last year:

QUESTION: So do you use sleeping tablets to organize yourself?

SECRETARY POWELL: Yes. Well, I wouldn't call them that. They're a wonderful medication -- not medication. How would you call it? They're called Ambien, which is very good. You don't use Ambien? Everybody here uses Ambien.

18. That equivocation is pretty revealing
Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 04:42 PM by htuttle
If it's not 'medication', what would you call it, Mr. Powell?

"Mints that make you feel good"?

22. Nice catch
I can't believe he said that, no less posted it on an official government website.

Doesn't everybody take them? Well has a matter of fact, no Colin, I never even fucking heard of Ambien before. Yet, you still think marijuana is a dangerous drug?

Ambien aka: Zolpidem can be habit-forming. Do not take a larger dose, take it more often, or for a longer period than your doctor tells you to.

13. That, and those standardized tests he's forcing on kids.
Anybody who is for mandatory testing should be tested as well.

if we couldn't have him certified as 'insane' and do an involuntary hospitalization!

15. And a lie detector test too, something I had to take to get
a job in the past. I don't know if employers still do this, but as far as I'm concerned it's in the same thing and Bush should be subject to both.

19. Only if it would be to demonstrate his
sanctimonious hypocrisy and to make the gov't reconsider the fascist drug war. If not for that, I would not want him to be subjected to a drug test out of malice because I sure as hell wouldn't want it happening to me.

20. The point is that it could happen to you and will likely happen
to you at some time in the future, so shouldn't Presidents have to do the same? I think Presidents should go through a job screening before they are even allowed to run for office just like personnel offices in large corporations screen applicants for a job before they are interviewed by the department head they possible will work for. Trust me Bush would never had make the cut.

that Clinton should take a drug test (I never knew why) and that all his medical records should be released. Do you hear them saying anything now? No, of course not.
