We all made fun of him, but he was so right when he talked about the "giant sucking sound" of jobs lost because of NAFTA. I also laughed when he talked about the horrendous nature of the Bush family. Well, I am big enough to admit when I was wrong. Wouldn't you think Larry King or somebody would want to interview him? My bet is he has had a stroke or other health problems. Anybody know what's happening here?

1. I Think I Actually Voted for Perot in 1992
mostly because of the defecit issue. Turns out Clinton did a nag-up job with that.

I told my 13-year old about the origin of the phrase "giant sucking sound" in the presidential debates. She said "Did he make a sound effect?" Now THAT I would have loved to see.

2. A Republican friend came up just the other day and said the same thing.
"You know, I believe I can hear that sucking sound myself. That Perot fella wasn't so crazy after all".

3. Ur right. The best way to apologize is to vote for an anti-Nafta Candidat
Don't know how he is these days but he was absolutely right and with the hind-sight I have now, I regret not having voted for him. I will not make that mistake again and refuse to vote for any candidate who supports, or rather doesn't totally oppose, NAFTA.

11. Ross is going with the flow

Ross is going with the flow and outsourcing jobs to India. If you can't beat'em, join'em right.

Well Ross WAS right. The sucking sound is alive and well.

The HUGE problem with third parties is they try to go national too soon. ALL politics are inherently local. Instead of running for president UWS should have run congressional candidates. A president without a congressional delegation is a sure fire sitting duck.

6. Ross was a mole
Edited on Mon Feb-09-04 01:17 PM by mac2
Perot ran to destroy a third party. Think about it..he said, everything the people wanted to hear. He is a very rich man from Texas..with a big ego.

His handwriting showed that big ballon capital on his first name. In graphology (handwritng science),it's called a bluffer sign...empty air.

Just when he was about to win...he dropped out for a stupid reason. People were so angry, they abandoned a third party concept. Jessie Ventura was the same animal.

You don't owe him an apology. He owes us an explantion.

9. Gore-Perot Debate.
I listened to the debate and agreed with Perot. We could all see it happening. It was a very popular concept that had Americans upset.

It was a "populist" issue. They all were.

Perot was still a mole.

10. Maybe, maybe not
Perot may or may not have been a mole. I would say not; why would a mole have been so outspoken against NAFTA, which was right near the top of the neocon agenda? On the other hand he completely lost my respect when he endorsed Bush in 2000. Mole or not, he sold out.

The very night that the story broke on *'s DUI. No need to apologize to Perot for anything.

Bush says he regrets 1976 DUI arrest
November 2, 2000
Web posted at: 10:26 p.m. EST (0326 GMT)

West Allis, Wisconsin (CNN) -- Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush said Thursday night that he regrets a 1976 DUI arrest in Maine that was made public earlier in the day after reports on a five days before the election.
<snip>
The news came shortly before Bush picked up the endorsement of Reform Party founder Ross Perot on CNN's Larry King Live.

"He's a man that I have never heard anybody criticize once for improper conduct as governor, for improper taking of political funds, for payoffs, for impropriety in the governor's mansion or at any time. And that is a big state," Perot told King. "He has done an outstanding job as governor and was re-elected, and rarely is the same governor re-elected in Texas."
