2. Sounded pretty sure didn't he.
Of course, he made a case on MTP that he is clearly delusional.

3. Do you think this is another SOTU moment?
That after this performance in which he portrays a bumbling idiot, he will actually continue to drop in the polls?

I think we all expected a bump after the SOTU and yesterday I thought he would get a bump after having an hour of a pre-taped message on MTP. Now I am not so sure. I would like to think that few people would be impressed with what they saw today.

4. I hate to disagree with a good Bush bash, but
He accomplished a few things here.

First thing you need to realize:

BUSH IS NOT TRYING TO SELL US ON THIS!!!

I think he is a lying sack of excrement. There is and will never be anything he can do to sell me on supporting him. He knows this and therefore he is not trying to.

Now that I have that out of my system, who the hell is this guy talking to?

He is talking to the 45 percent of America that still likes him and the other 6 or 7 percent that might, given any reasonable excuse.

For them, he worked hard at taking the war completely off the table. The line "congress read the same intelligence reports I did" is a clear shot at Kerry. Many of us don't think this holds any water, but again he is not talking to us.

Then he goes into resolution 1441 and how the Security Council unanimously agreed that Saddam was a threat and did not disclose his weapons programs. In effect he is saying that they all read the same stuff he did and that the House, the Senate, and the UN Security Council all agreed that Saddam was a threat. It was his job alone to protect the 'murikan people. Then he says that he did what the evidence said was necessary. I know that we do not believe this crap holds water, but again he is not talking to us.

He made it clear that he will out tax cut Kerry. "There are those in congress who want to raise your taxes" He will propose further tax cuts if this issue has any traction. Some of us here know that the tax cuts are stupid, immoral, and threaten to destroy the social contract. Others here believe supporting some middle class tax cut is the only formula for victory. If we run on the tax cut meme he will out bid us and make the issue a loser. WE know he is wrong, but he is not talking to us.

Bush seemed simple and plain spoken to boot. This is exactly the image they are attempting to craft. It is just like the image of J.F. Kerry hoisting a beer with the boys. Yes, with Bush it is an utter contrivance but it is crafted carefully. He was not behind the desk but exposed to seem more vulnerable, but at the same time in the Whitehouse not a studio to seem more Presidential.

Sorry guys, this crap is going to sell quite well with the people it is targeted toward. Get ready for a long and nasty fight. Underestimate this bozo at your own risk.

5. That gave me the same sick feeling I had...
...in 2000 when he confidently said he'd win Florida ("My brother said he'd deliver Florida for me"), after CNN had called it for Gore.
