I'm sick of being a "liberal" (RANT)
I'm sick of people that want to tag me as a liberal (as if that's a dirty thing) because my views are to the left of Bush. Jesus! Bush is one step away from wearing swastika! Anything left of him is still far right!

I admit my views are very liberal, but what is so wrong with the qualities and traits of people that are compassionate and caring for others and their environment!?!? HELLO!?

I'm sick of right wing presumptuous assholes that feel they own America! "If you don't like it move to russia!" Yet they cry foul everytime their tax dollars might go to help someone truly in need instead of another corporate bailout!

I'm sick of coming to this site as a means of news and to connect with like-minded people. Don't get me wrong, i love this site, but in reality everything on DU should be on CNN's front page EVERYDAY!

Sorry for the rant. :)

1. Liberal is not a dirty word!
So you are right. This country has tilted so far to the right that a guy like Clinton was considered "liberal" when he really wasn't. No problem on the rant.

2. Agreed DU rocks.
the word liberal = Liberty, has been totally distorted by the right, yet the term Liberal Trade is ok by them and repulsed by us. So I like to say I am a Progressive.

3. It almost seems like it's become a dirty word
It's the kiss of death for a politician. "He's...gasp..a liberal!" They say it as if you were a child molester.

4. Liberals are right on
nothing to be but proud. Liberals are the ones who move things along. But it is ok to rant. The next time some bozo wonders why you don't move somewhere, suggest they might feel more comfortable to go back in time to Nazi Germany.

5. Malcolm X used to say
that he knew he was on the right track when his enemies squeeled loudly, called him names, and told lies about him. Gosh, it sure would have been nice to see Brother Malcolm debate the fools on Fox News, and especially george w bush!

7. Liberals
I'm not a liberal, proud not to be.

I heard a quote once that seems to me to be pretty accurate...

Liberals are so openminded they refuse to defend their own position.

I am a Communist, I welcome people to call me a communist, for it invites dicussion.

8. You are right. Thinking has been demonized ('phony intellectualism')
along with caring for the environment that provides for our very existence ('tree-huggers'), caring for the ideals of democracy and sharing ('communism'), and caring about peace (wimpy pacifist). It's time we reclaim our desire to be progressive and hopeful about the human race. People in other countries still value these things, why not here?
