hahahahaha.....NYT: bush* had rehearsed with an aide standing in
Edited on Sun Feb-08-04 05:48 PM by amen1234

they worked out all those 'mini-speeches' made by bush*...they knew all the questions ahead of time......

-snips-

There were few large surprises in the interview, which was taped on Saturday, and for which Mr. Bush had rehearsed with an aide standing in for his questioner, Mr. Russert. The president handled most questions calmly, but did seem slightly taken aback when asked whether United States troops had in fact been welcomed as "liberators" in Iraq, as some in his administration had predicted.

Even absent such certainty, he said, the stakes were so high that "it is essential that when we see a threat, we deal with those threats before they become imminent.

"It's too late if they become imminent."

Inaction in Iraq, he said, "would have emboldened Saddam Hussein. He could have developed a nuclear weapon over time."

Mr. Hussein wanted such a weapon, Mr. Tenet said in a speech last week, but was probably years from being able to develop one. Intelligence agencies "may have overestimated the progress" Iraq was making, Mr. Tenet said.

10. It Used to Be Different
Real Presidents are not afraid to go on live TV.
Real Presidents don't have to approve the questions in advance.

"an unrehearsed press conference".

2. So not only was it pre-taped
all the questions and answers were rehearsed in advance? How do you script: ah, dah, stong, I, leader, well, I, terra, war, ah, da, mmm....

Despite every advantage in the book, W still blew it.

3. I think this latest interview will get him nowhere
in poll numbers. He had a losing
State Of The Union Speech and he
is now on the defensive over his
past failing policies and without
a vision for the future to change
things.

He is toast.

12. I agree. I watched trying to find positions for his supporters to rally
'round and found few. nothing new, nothing clear, some waffling to say the least. And he was clearly in our debate now, not visa versa...

4. can't get in
did they explicitly say that he had the questions in advance?

find that hard to believe.....should be bigtime scandal, if true

as others have said, though, his aides shouldn't have too much trouble predicting most of the questions

7. No, MTP claims that they didn't give him the qts.
beforehand.

I would bet that the WH gave MTP the questions. Not the other way around.

Since I am not a masochist I didn't watch it. I did read the transcript. One word for this: FARCE.
