Here's a question: will Blair campaign for Bush?

He already has in some ways, vis a vis the visit to Britain, etc. But Blair has shown a certain reluctance at times, most notably when he avoided a public ceremony for the special medal Congress awarded him. What do you say, folks? Would a Blair/Bush victory tour be met with howls of derision?

He's already trying to avoid the reputation as being Bush's personal lapdog. I don't think he'd dare give fodder to that image. Whatever endorsements he gives to Bush will be more subtle. Look for him casting doubts about our candidate on a newscast near you. (if that hasn't happened already) :puke:

5. Blair is a poodle, but

he's primarily concerned with Britain remaining on the side of whomever is in power in the US. He will never overtly campaign for anyone. That would finish him if the other side ever came to power.

He will subtly talk up Bush, while not saying anything bad about the Democratic nominee.

I hope that when our nominee wins, his first action will be to set up a trip to France and Germany with NO stops in England/Poland/Spain/Italy. Put those kiss ass bastards on notice.

I've been wondering about this too.

Certainly bush* would like some high profile endorsements from his satryps.

So you could get to see anyone of the Polish, Australian, israeli, british, Prime Ministers. Sharon did stump for Jeb bush in 2002.

It is not considered good form to do this. John Major's little help in trying to find files on Clinton in 1992 was not recieved well especially when Clinton won the election.

I'm deducing there is a bit of competition for bush*'s favours between the Conservatives and Labour over here, and there is one trump card that blair has that the Conservatives don't, which is the 'senior world leader comes to Washington for talks with President bush*' act. I'd guess about October 7th - 14th time. Not too close to the election but close enough.

It's a guess, although I wonder whether blair's fortunes aren't tied so close to bush*'s that he has to be thinking about it hard.

If bush* is looking like winning the election in 2004 that probably makes the visit more certain.

bush* will still stab him the back when the british elections in 2005 come around though. blair pissed off the neo-cons by dragging the u.s. through the UN in the run-up to the Iraq invasion. I should imagine the I/P 'road map to peace' had a bit to do with blair too

about the English Civil War.

About how some Nobles and their armies used to watch a battle from the side-lines, see who was winning, and then join the winning side so they would get a cut of the spoils.

I would be happy to see the 2004 election as at least a 50/50 by the beginning of September, otherwise you might find Washington awash with world leaders for the last two months of the election cycle.

no, Blair is in line with a Green party on the american political spectrum.

War was forced on Blair, imo, because otherwise he risked the UK's "special relationship" with the US.
