Did bush call our nation a dictorial regime?
Russert: But can you launch a preemptive war without iron clad, absolute intelligence that he had weapons of mass destruction?

President Bush: Let me take a step back for a second and there is no such thing necessarily in a dictatorial regime of iron clad absolutely solid evidence. The evidence I had was the best possible evidence that he had a weapon.

1. I don't think he was saying the US
He was saying that dictatorial regimes have to hide things. Well, I suppose you're right. Since this is the most secretive administration in the history of the country.

2. Can you say Freudian slip!
I heard that too. For the sake of democracy I hope it really wasn't a slip.

" I'll tell you, though, I'm not going to change, see? I'm not trying to accommodate. I won't change my philosophy or my point of view. I believe I owe it to the American people to say what I'm going to do and do it, and to speak as clearly as I can, try to articulate as best I can why I make decisions I make, but I'm not going to change because of polls. "

*, you idiot, the purpose of the government is to REPRESENT the people, not to inflict your will on them. Fortunately, the only poll that really counts is next fall.

You were faced with a decision with dire consquences on taking the nation to war. If you were right, you get to play the hero. If you were wrong, you are a war criminal. Most people would make damn sure they were right before taking that bet, but you were so excited to one-up poppie and avenge his one termer that you ran with the bluff and tried to make your hand look like a winner. The world has called your bet and as we start laying the cards down, it appears that you were holding crap.

Next fall, everyone gets to make a decision with similar cosequences. If they vote for you, they are either voting for an ass that ran every organization that he was ever handed into the ground OR they are supporting a war criminal. Good thing they can fold their ante (your selection in 2000) and get dealt a fresh hand.

5. If this MTP segment was scripted, should not the RNC pay air time
like for any other commercial.
