Check out this question!
From MTP this morning!

Russert: Why do people hold you with such contempt

President Bush: Heck, I don't know, Ronald Reagan was unpopular in Europe when he was President, according to Jose Maria Aznar. And I said, ‘You know something? ‘

He said to me, he said, ‘You're nearly as unpopular as Ronald Reagan was.’ I said, ‘so, first of all, I'm keeping pretty good company.’

I think that people when you do hard things, when you ask hard things of people, it can create tensions. And I heck, I don't know why people do it. I'll tell you, though, I'm not going to change, see? I'm not trying to accommodate I won't change my philosophy or my point of view. I believe I owe it to the American people to say what I'm going to do and do it, and to speak as clearly as I can, try to articulate as best I can why I make decisions I make, but I'm not going to change because of polls. That's just not my nature.

Amazing!!! Russert has found his cajones!

1. that answer in particular..
...wasn't good for Bush, I don't think. "I won't accomodate" - reeks a bit of "I'm a close-minded nut." He won't change his views? What if he's shown proof that they're wrong?

I don't see how that answer can be consistent with the whole uniter-not-divider thing. Politics is about compromise, and this administration's refusal to give even an inch on everything, along with their tendency to just be plain old assholes about it all, is why the infamous tone of washington is as it is today.

2. I had fun with this
I sent around a saved copy and a link of the WHOLE transcript. This will NOT go over well, here's the link:

Send it around, don't LET this die. Let's use the internet to beat Corporate Media and show Bush for what he is with his own words!

3. You read that differently than I do
Phrased differently, the question becomes, why do people hate you. Everyone who criticizes Bush is a "Bush-hater", so their opinions don't matter. It was a question that is set up to make Bush sympathetic, and on top of that, Bush gets to compare himself to Reagan and reaffirm his certainty of purpose. If this is an example of the type of "hard hitting" questions, then the interview was a joke.

5. So in other words
"I don't care what matters to the people I represent. I'm gonna do what I think the people I represent need to care about."

Fucking asshole.

The question was about his unpopularity in Europe. And saying he's unpopular in Europe can only help him in a stand-by-our-President way.

8. Most excellent!
I personally think we should nail that sonofabitch so hard that even Al Sharpton could win a landslide against him!
