I checked out freerepublic for intial freeper reaction and they seem to be doing this:

"Tim Russert is a spineless liberal blowhard"

And "Who cares what his answers were, he's strong!"

I need honest analysis!

1. Honest answer
Russert did better than I thought he would. I thought he would just ass-kiss, but he did ask some tough questions.

Bush answered with a lot of rhetoric (Saddam was a bad man, Clinton, Clinton, blah blah).

I think that the strong Bush lovers will not change after this interview, but this interview has not helped him with anyone on the fence.

I'm predicting further 2 point drop in his approval after this interview. Just like the SOTU, it did not help him in any way. I think next week we'll see results of 45% approval, down from 47%.

5. Yeah, I just talked to my mom about it
She's pretty pragmatic and honest. Her take was that he didn't hurt himself with his base but didn't help himself with the swing voters.

3. Who cares what his answers were?
I hope that means they were disappointed in his answers. It's hard to interpret the freeper mind.

7. Didn't Hurt Himself A Bit
I think it was neutral to ever so slightly positive for him to tell the sad sad truth.

All the guy had to do was make it through an hour without breaking down. His performance here was no different than anywhere else, same old crap. The thing is that the same old crap has given him a following of about half of the country. This interview didn't do anything at all to change that. At least that's how I saw it, unfortunately .....
