"People have been looking for these files for a long time--trust me."

LOL!

On edit: This quote was, of course, in reference to his National Guard service.

Sorry, Mods. I know this is kind of a dupe. But, I think this particular line stands out, particularly when combined with the smirk he expressed.

1. Hmm. Smirky: Why would they be an issue if there is no
doubt about your service? Huh? Enquiring minds want to know.

2. He kept saying "looking for" as opposed to looked at.
I've lost count of how many times I've laughed at this bastard today.

3. This is the idiocy of Bush...yet some people still buy it
If he did his duty in Alabama there would have to be at least ONE credible National Guard witness that would come forward to say so. SOMEONE had to see him there.

Since they offer no one, and are trying to make this an issue of bungled paperwork, it is obvious to me he is GUILTY as CHARGED!

5. "it's politics"
god i loath this liar.

he says he couldn't have been 'honorably discharged' if he didn't do his service.

but we know he wasn't honorably brought INTO the TANG. it was 'political' strings pulled by his father. he didn't get in on MERIT

so why is it hard to believe that he didn't get OUT on MERIT.

daddy got him out as he got him in.

7. He concluded by saying "They have scoured those records"
Scoured ~ Scrubbed ~ same difference. Would love to see this as a headline in the Washington Post "They Have Scoured Those Records"

8. He also said he didn't want to go to Viet Nam
because politicians were running the war.

Excuse me, what the hell kind of piss poor excuse is that? Does that mean that all the kids in Iraq and Afghanistan shouldn't fight in this war either because not only are the politicians running it, they are treasonous liars, also?

9. The issue is dead.
The nominee-presumptive of the Democratic party has already killed it.

"We do not need to divide America over who served and how. I have personally always believed that many served in many different ways"

John Kerry, 1992.

AWOL is a non-starter. The ads with the Kerry quote are already in the can....

11. Smear Bush anyway.
Being AWOL hurts Bush a LOT more than being inconsistent hurts Kerry. Why be consistent at all costs? This takes away Bush's only issue, national security.

12. But this is Kerry's strategy
he will take the high road so as not to alienate those who opposed the war and those who have reservations. He's counting on us to keep the story alive. AWOL will not subside while we have soldiers dying in Iraq. Reservists are exhausted. This issue will be major if we keep it visible. We can't let Americans forget that we have soldiers in jeopardy. Bush is trying to keep us all fat and happy so we don't notice the Iraqi mess. And when we care more about who wins "Survivor" or who the next "American Idol" is, than what iis happening in Iraq and Afghanistan, Bush wins.

10. He saved his biggest smirk of the day for that one
I would call it an ear to ear smirk, one that he could only have if he knew exactly where and when those records were shredded.
